Do you remember places that you went to a lot when you were a little kid? And there's that one place that will always be an important part of your life?

Well, I have that place too. For me, that place was a park.

The park was about fifteen minutes from my home when I walked there. There were trails for walking, running, and bike riding, and there was a small pond that always had these adorable little ducks wadding around in it. There was this huge playground, complete with a swing set, multiple slides, monkey bars, and a jungle gym.

My favorite part of the park, though, was the woods.

Most people I knew found it weird that a little girl would want to run around in the woods instead of wanting to run around on the playground. I didn't ever make a scene about it, though, when people would ask me why I was always running around in the woods. I would simply tell them that the woods were special to me, but wouldn't really elaborate on it.

One day, when I was about eight years old, I went to the park on my own for the first time. Usually, I would go with my dad, but he'd recently walked out on my mom, sister, and I. I had decided that day, that instead of staying home like I had been the entire week, I would go to the park. I had asked my mother if I could go on my own, and she gave me permission to do so. She had insisted that I take her cell phone with me though, just in case something happened to me. So I slipped the phone into my pocket and went on my way.

As soon as I reached my destination, I went straight to the woods. I walked over to my favorite tree, sat on the ground in front of it, and leaned against it. I looked up at the sky and sighed.

"One day, I'm going to have a new best friend. And we're gonna be friends forever."

It was at that moment when something hit my leg. I looked to see a pinecone on the ground in front of me. I looked in the direction it came from and saw a pair of doe brown eyes staring at me. When they realized I was looking at them, they widened and hid behind the tree across from mine.

I stood up and walked over to the tree. Hiding behind it was a girl who looked to be younger than I am. She looked up at me and smiled sheepishly. "Hi," she mumbled and waved slightly.

I frowned at her. "What are you doing behind the tree? You know I won't bite, right?"

She shrugged. "I just wanted to watch you."

"Well kid, that's creepy. You shouldn't watch people like that. They might get the wrong ideas and hit you or something," I told her.

The girl's eyes widened. "What?!"

I laughed. "Just kidding." She sighed in relief. "Or am I?" I asked mysteriously.

She pouted. "You're mean. What's your name?"

Just before I could answer it started pouring rain. I scowled up at the sky. "Oh no. I have to go." I started running away, but She caught up to me.

"Wait! What's your name?" She asked again.

Still running, I called over my shoulder, "SANA!"

She smiled. "Bye Sana! See you soon!" I didn't answer. I just kept running home.

It's been years since I met the little doe eyed girl. She'd said she would see me soon, but as far as I know, I never did see her again. That day is still my favorite, though. If I hadn't met that little girl in the park, the events that took place ten years later may not have happened.
