Memory 28

Our newspapers never stayed in one piece longer than ten minutes. Our interests always started differently. I looked at the sports section first and you at the entertainment section. Then politics for me, business news for you. Comic strips which I ripped out and posted on the library board. Classifieds and funeral notices which you tried to read quickly. The paper got swapped around. Bits and pieces that littered the floor of the den. News that sometimes shocked us or connected us or grew the distance between us. News that the world would share and read together with a bit of guilt.
