The funeral took place a week later. A huge army affair even with your dad protesting otherwise. I'm sorry, I knew you would have hated it. Your dad for the first time claimed you as his son and your sister kept me strong during the service and burial. I met your unit and their gentle anecdotes of you painted a different picture to the one I had of you. I threw the first handful of soil on your casket. I stopped paying attention after my part. I stood at the back in my black suit. The one we both agreed I looked stupid in.
