We weren't giving up, we were letting life take its course, that is what you whispered in my ears before you left me for good. It hurt so bad. Worse than starvation or our fights or when one of our foster kids died. It hurt, it hurt when Rosh gently pulled me off you and I broke down in his arms wishing they were yours. His wife stood awkwardly but tried to gently rub circles on my back. Her touch kept me grounded. I trembled as they took your body for the organ harvest. I had to fight my words and protests as I signed the last of your papers. Yuri stayed with me afterwards. His son the night with me in silence. He was always your favourite nephew, no matter what your protests said.
A/N: My brother drew this when I told him about 10K reads. I honestly love how he acts as my sounding board for stories even though it isn't his favourite thing to do.
