The bright red Uno box was the devil. We played for hours on end during Friday nights. I don't know why but it became something we did together. Opposite sides of the coffee table with a movie playing in the background. Scores taped to the fridge and fiercely childish battles dominated the night's we played. Something that didn't involve sex or sleeping together or being in each other's arms. I hated sport and you refused to pick up video games. Cards were a nice neutral zone were our worlds just grew a fraction closer than they were moments before.
