I opted to go on and do people's taxes. Along with library work, it was what I trained to do in college. It was a useful skill and I could find work at the agency in town. My certificates were still valid and I was grateful that I was hired by the local firm when their tax specialist retired. I liked it. The change was stressful but felt good. Penny and you got closer she still felt uncomfortable around me. Sometimes I was rudely reminded that skin tone was still a factor to many people. Humans were weird like that.
