Dancing Away With My Heart

Chapter 3

Today was Saturday which meant I didn't have to go to rehearsals , Which meant no seeing Alan and for an odd reason that made me happy . I enjoyed seeing him and dancing with him but I also felt guilty about it at the same time , In high school I was never one to get crushes on my friends boyfriends it just made me feel like an awful person , but , there was something totally different about Alan , I don't know why I developed a crush on him so suddenly and so randomly but for some strange reason that's exactly what happened and the worst part about it all was the fact that I considered Jenna to be a friend and having a crush on her boyfriend made me hate myself .

At around 1:30 I got a phone call . It was from Emma

Danielle: Hello?

Emma: Hey Dani , Listen a bunch of us were going to go hang out at the beach today . Do you wanna come ? Alan will be there 

Danielle: I'd love to go but ... I was sort of hoping I wouldn't have to see Alan today , And plus won't Jenna be there ?

Emma: No , She hates the beach , it would only be Me , Sasha , You , and Alan

Danielle: Well ... I'll think about it and text you if I'm gonna come or not 

Emma: Okay , I hope you decide to come , we always have fun

Danielle: I'm sorry I just ... Really don't want to see Alan today

Emma: I understand . Bye .

I hung up my phone , put it back on the charger ,  and then went and plopped on the couch , but no sooner than I sat down the doorbell rang . I went to answer the door only to see Alan . Great .

"Beach Day . You Coming?" He asked

"I don't think I'm going too" I said letting him in the apartment to have a seat

"What ? Come on Dani" He said

"Im sorry it's just ... big bodies of water aren't my thing" I said standing up and walking over to the kitchen sink , he followed

"Please come , For me" He said making a puppy dog pouty face

"Like I said , I don't like big bodies of water , And the ocean has a lot of animals in it , dangerous animals" I say

"Come on" He says locking his eyes with mine . He did that a lot  "I promise I'll protect you" . Was he flirting again ?

"Don't make promises you can keep" I said

"I never make a promise I can't keep" He says . It took all the strength I had in me not to kiss him .

"What if we're surfing and a shark comes along and bites off my arm?" I say hoping he doesn't have a comeback

"That doesn't happen" He says , his eyes were still locked with mine

"Have you not seen Soul Surfer" I ask

"No , I haven't" He says

"Well its a true story about a girl who gets her arm bitten off by a shark while surfing with her friend" I explain "It does happen"

"If that happened , I'd do anything I could to get you back to the shore safely and to the hospital , I promise I wouldn't let a thing happen to you" He says . I finally break the stare .

"Fine . Let me get my stuff and I'll meet you downstairs" I say and he smiles really big

"Yess!"He says picking me up hugging me and twirling me again

"Yeah , Yeah , Go hug Jenna" I say as he puts me down

"Okay" He says and steps out into the hallway but then he turns around and puts both hands on each side of the door frame and leans his head into the apartment " But Dani"
