"Red or pink?" Regina asks herself, holding up two lip sticks.
"Red." She decides and rubs it carefully along her lips. She steps back and looks at herself in the mirror. She had chosen a tighter fitting black cocktail dress, to wear out on her date. It is strapless without any fancy embroidery, although very sophisticated and classy.
Regina's short hair falls just beneath her shoulders. She combs her fingers through her dark brown locks, smoothing out her wild curls. She pulls half back on one side, securing it in a sparkly barrette. She steps back and looks at her reflection in the mirror. She is nervous. She never gets nervous. It must be because she likes Robin, a lot actually but she had to keep her feelings to herself. This date was nothing, she would treat it just as any other. She wouldn't let herself get attached.
~•••~
Regina smoothes out her dress and takes a deep breath before knocking on the door of his apartment.
"Regina." Robin smiles when he sees her.
"Hi." She replies, returning the smile. For a moment they are both just looking into each others eyes. His bright blue eyes meeting her dark chocolatey brown ones.
"Uh, come in." He says breaking their gaze and moving aside. She walks through the door and looks around his apartment.
"Nice place." Regina states in awe. It was quite old fashioned looking, not really what she would've expected.
"Thank you." Robin responds taking her coat from her and hanging it in the hall closet.
"May I escort you to our table Milady?" He asks holding his arm out for her to take. She laughs and smiles up at him.
"You may." Regina replies, linking her arm with his.
Robin leads her to his dining room table which he had decorated. The lights are dimmed and a few candles sit on the table to illuminate the room. Dinner was already served, sitting on each side of the small table. Regina was surprised he could be this romantic. No one has ever done this for her before, no one has ever cared enough. He pulls out her chair for her and she takes her seat then he sits across from her.
"Robin, this looks amazing." Regina says eyeing the food in front of her. He had made her Chicken Parmesan which looks and smells delicious.
"Hopefully it tastes even better." Robin responds, picking up his fork.
The two eat and talk for what feels like hours. Regina learns Robin is an artist who paints mostly abstract pieces and sells them. She has always been fond of art in all its forms, although she's never met a man with such similar views and interests about it. After dinner they move the date to the couch, the lights are still low, the room now lit up by the fireplace.
"I'm having a really nice time." Robin says looking into Regina's dark eyes.
"So am I." She admits, a slight smile upon her face. He begins to lean in to kiss her but she stops him, putting a hand to his chest.
"I'm sorry, I can't." Regina states. She truly wanted nothing more than to kiss him. He had done all of this for her and she was finally enjoying herself after years of excluding herself from anyone who could possibly care for her. She knows Robin cares about her and she cares about him too.
"Why not?" He asks, clearly hurt by her words.
"I'm sorry Robin. I want to kiss you, believe me I do but I can't." She says sadly.
"Why? You know I'd never hurt you Regina." Robin responds, she shakes her head.
"It's not like that. I trust you, I just can't be with you." She says frustratedly. This was harder than she thought, she was breaking her own heart.
"Did I do something wrong?" He asks, confused. He was so worried he hurt her but that wasn't the case at all.
"I'm not good enough for you Robin. Don't you see?" Regina sighs, letting go of his hand that was holding hers.
"You deserve better." She looks up into his eyes again.
"There isn't anyone better, I only want you Regina." Robin says, bringing a hand up to caress her cheek gently. She can't help it anymore, he has such strong feelings for him and they finally take over.
Regina presses her lips to his, bringing her hands to his shoulders as his hold around her back. She tilts her head to the side, deepening the kiss and making it more passionate. She finally let go after all this time. Regina feels a certain happiness and light she hasn't felt in a long time. Robin makes her feel that way and she is happy he forced her into this date. Regina's hands lock around his neck pulling him closer while Robin's trail up and down her back hugging her to him. Soon they fall back on the couch, Robin landing softly on his back, as Regina hovers over him. They break the kiss and both look at each other, breathing heavily.
"Wow, that was some kiss." Robin says smiling at her. Regina smirks at him, pecking his lips again softly.
"I know, would you care to kiss some more?" She whispers beside his ear, a smile on her face.
"Why, of course Milady." Robin replies then his lips are on hers again.
