A Bitter Question

It was only November and she could already feel the coldness of winter creeping in. Although it was still considered to be fairly warm outside, (compared to the below zero temperatures of winter) Regina was completely freezing. She was wrapped up in two fluffy blankets and a large comforter in their bed but could still feel the tiny wisps of cold air hitting her from different directions. It was getting late and Robin had told her he was putting Henry and Roland to sleep. It had been nearly a half hour since he'd said so and Regina knew when he took this long he was telling Roland a story to put him to sleep.

Regina tightens her grip on the soft blankets pulling them closer to her body as she shivers, like she did every few moments. She just wanted Robin to walk in and hold her so she could be warm but she didn't want to interrupt his time with his son. Usually Regina would go and tuck Roland in, giving his forehead a kiss and brushing his mop of brown curls away from his face. Although, Roland asked for Robin to tuck him in tonight and Regina understood. She feels a shiver make her body twitch once more and is finally fed up with it. She needed Robin.

Regina throws the blankets off of her, feeling the freezing air envelop her and almost regrets her decision. She swings her legs over the side of their bed and walks over to where her silk robe hangs on the bathroom door. She pulls it over the large t-shirt of Robin's she had been wearing along with a pair of pyjama shorts and ties the ribbon belt. Regina begins making her way downstairs feeling the cool wood of the stairs hit her bare feet with each step. She approaches the kitchen and suddenly inhales the familiar scent of coffee. A smile forms on her face as she sees Robin pouring hot coffee into two glass mugs.

"So this is what was taking so long." Regina says, her arms snaking around his torso from behind. He smiles and places his warm hands over hers.

"You're cold." Robin notices, feeling her small, freezing hands beneath his.

"I'm freezing and I need you to come upstairs and warm me up." Regina mumbles into the fabric of his shirt as she nestles her head into his back.

"That's what the coffee was for but I suppose if you really need me to, I can make the exception." He replies, dumping the coffee into the sink.

"You seem tired, coffee probably wouldn't be good before bed anyways." Robin continues, turning to face her. She feels an arm swoop under the backs of her knees while another is under her back as Robin lifts her into his arms.

"I can walk you know, I'm not that cold." Regina giggles, looking up at him.

"I know, but I like carrying you. You're light anyways." He tells her and she nods, resting her head on his shoulder.

Robin reaches the door of their bedroom, lightly pushing it open. He pulls back the bed sheets and carefully lays Regina down before getting in himself. Regina instantly rolls into his arms and sighs in contentment.

"Feeling warmer?" Robin asks and feels her nod against his chest.

A few minutes go by of complete silence and Robin had thought she'd fallen asleep. Regina's eyes were closed but her mind was running, she was thinking about a particular question she'd been meaning to ask him. She didn't know if she wanted to hear the answer, but with her new life and becoming a better person the question seemed to always pop into her head.

"Robin." She says, her voice echoing in the silent room. He looks down at her, meeting her eyes to tell her she had his attention.

"Do you think you'd still love me if- if I was still the Evil Queen?" Regina asks looking up at him with hopeful eyes. She did hope he'd say yes, but if he said no she wouldn't be offended either. How could anyone love someone like that?

Robin didn't expect to hear that come out of her mouth, that was the last thing on his mind. He thought maybe she'd say a sweet 'I love you' or give him a kiss. He was caught completely off guard by this and hadn't ever really thought about it. He had always accepted Regina's past because it didn't make her who she is now. The Evil Queen was a part of Regina for quite sometime and he had always been ok with that, but if she was still the person she used to be Robin wasn't sure he would be able to love her. He fell in love with Regina, and the remnants of the Evil Queen within her. He helped her fight off the demons within her that would try to find a way out every now and then. He loves her, and whether she was the Evil Queen or Regina, she was the woman he loves.

"Of course." Robin says, pressing a kiss to her forehead and she smiles.

"Really?" Regina asks in disbelief, she thought the answer would be no or result in a explanation why he couldn't.

"I love you and as much as it would hurt me to see you like that... I wouldn't stop loving you because of it, I'd simply help you get back to yourself." He explains, causing tears to fill her dark eyes.

"What's wrong?" He asks once he notices a tear run down her cheek. She quickly wipes it away and smiles.

"Nothing, I'm just so grateful to have you. I love you so much, Robin." Regina says sincerely, looking him right in his blue eyes.

"And I am grateful for you, my love." Robin smiles and brings a hand down to cup her cheek. He leans down a little to press his lips against hers, keeping their movements gentle and slow. Regina lets out a soft hum of contentment and Robin pulls away, a smile on both of their faces.
Regina waits a moment before pecking his lips once, twice and then kisses his cheek.

"Regina." Robin says, stopping her trail of light kisses tracing nearly every inch of his face. He sits up and pulls her fully into his lap as her arms circle around his neck. He brushes a lock of hair from her face and tucks it behind her ear. A beautiful smile forms on her face as her fingers play with his short hair at the back of his head.

"Tell me everything you love about me." Regina whispers, leaning in so her lips were nearly touching his. She kisses him once more then pulls away so he can answer.

"Well that would take all day." Robin replies, causing her to smile once more.

"Good thing we have all night." She says and he laughs.

"Yes, I suppose we do."
