Regina was used to fighting with Robin from time to time. It was fairly common for them to argue lately, ever since Marian came back and Regina started questioning things. If her and Robin were meant to be together then why were things so complicated between them? If he was really so honourable, then why would he stay with a woman he did not love? Regina didn't know what to think anymore. Her happy ending was finally within reach and the few months she spent with Robin were beyond amazing, the closest she's ever been to happy. Now it feels she's back to the start.

There's only so much Regina can take before she breaks. Earlier tonight when he came over uninvited, kissing her senseless before she's even closed the door, it took everything in her to press two hands to his chest and tell him stop. He gave her a look of confusion, his eyes sparkling with their usual desire for her before he asked her what's wrong. He'd come over on many occasions like this and Regina continued to take whatever he was willing to give her, even if it ended in him leaving as soon as she'd fallen asleep in his arms and once again she'd wake up in an empty bed.

She doesn't want that anymore and he needed to know. "I want you." She tells him, her hands sliding over his chest and taking hold on his shoulders. Her eyes lift to meet his, "but not like this."

"But this is the only way we can be together." He states, his grip on her waist tightening as he pulls her body closer to his. She's shaking her head now, telling him she can't do this anymore and suddenly he's worried. "What are you saying?"

"That I-I love you, but this is... wrong." She wriggles out of his arms, crossing her own over her chest. "I think you should leave."

"My love-"

"Don't call me that." She snaps, because this is all too much. She can barely get through this and with the constant reminder that he loves her, it's too hard. "Just leave please."

He does as told, taking a few steps towards the door and grabbing the handle, as they hadn't even left the front foyer of her house. She's already regretting this because having Robin, someone who she knows loves her, is better than not having anyone no matter the circumstances.

"Robin." Her voice cracks as her body betrays her and she reaches for him. "Kiss me." He doesn't waste anytime, hands cupping her face as his lips crash into hers. Her hands wrap around his biceps, gripping his jacket as she closes her eyes and puts everything she has into this kiss. The kiss was urgent at first, lips parting and connecting every few seconds in an uneven pattern until it began to slow down. They kissed slowly, savouring the taste and feel of each other's mouths.

Robin was the first to pull away, resting his forehead on hers. "Regina, I love you so much. Don't ever forget that."

"Wouldn't dream of it." She says, a smile breaking the sadness of her features as she remembers that very first time they met in this world. He backs up, brings her hand to his lips, kissing her knuckles a few times and finally letting the tears in his eyes roll down his cheeks. Her hand slips from his as he walks out the door, turning the handle and pulling it open. He's taking so long to leave, she wishes he'd just shut the door behind him so she can finally release the tears she's been trying her best to hold back. Once again he stops, in the middle of the door way and looks back at her. "I-"

She can't bare hearing it again. "I know."

And then he's gone.

It has been three weeks since that day and Regina isn't herself. Robin brought hope of happiness into her life and without that she seems almost dead inside. She broke her own heart and shattered it into a million tiny pieces, every once and a while feeling the after shocks of pain when someone mentions Robin or his lovely wife, Marian. She doesn't want to talk, doesn't want sympathy from anyone. She's made up her mind about her fate, she's doomed to suffer.
