Enjoy.
Kendall POV
"Alright, quadratics, let's see what words come to mind: parabolas, minimum, maximum, vertex, x intercepts...yeah, about all that." I was speaking to my class. All of them except Kaylie, looked like I was speaking Chinese. I rolled my eyes and went over to my desk. I picked up papers. "You will complete this practice. Need help, ask someone, still need help, I guess you can ask me." I passed out the papers and went back to my desk.
I passed Kaylie's desk and she was already on number five. I raised and eyebrow, she most likely got something wrong, she couldn't do all those that fast and get them all right. No way. I sat back at my desk and started playing on my phone. This'll keep em busy the whole class period.
I sensed someone standing in front of my desk. I looked up, it was Kaylie. "Do you need help?" I looked at her.
"No, I finished." I internally scoffed, yeah right. I took her paper and looked it over. I leaned back a bit, then checked her paper again. I shook my head, I am checking this wrong. I started over and the same results came back. She got them all right, in ten minutes! How? I looked up at her.
"Well uh," I waved off in another direction with my hand, "do something for another class." I looked at her again. Maybe her mom was right, she had a gift. Eh, we'll see, this is only quadratics, it's not that hard.
She walked back to her desk and got out a book. I watched her carefully and then turned my attention back to my phone. Speechless would be appropriate for this situation, because I can't believe she finished.
About an hour later, none of the rest of the class was done, so I just assigned it for homework. I printed off some hardcore quadratic problems for Kaylie, there's no way she can get these without help. "Hey uh, Kaylie." She stopped walking out and turned to me. I signaled her to come over.
"Yes Mr. Schmidt?" I grabbed the paper and handed it to her. She took it hesitantly.
"I printed these problems for you, since your so good at quadratics. I wanted to challenge you a bit."
"But Mr. Schmidt, I really didn't want math homework tonight..." I chuckled and sat on my desk.
"You'll be fine, if you do well, I'll give you extra points. It shouldn't be hard, since you're so good at math and all..." She gave me an eerie look, like she knew I didn't believe her being that good at math. I waved her off and she walked to the door. I scoffed. "No one is that good."
It had been a week and a half into school already, man time was flying. I decided that I would just leave now, even though I'm supposed to stay until 3:30. They'll be fine. I packed up my stuff and made my way to the front of the school. I opened the door and walked outside and bumped into someone.
"Sorry-." The person said, until she looked up at saw it was me. "Kendall." It was Kaylie's mom, Katelyn. I stepped back a bit and put on my best smile, man she was one of my favorite parents. She was gonna report me the first day of school, never had that happen before. I remember she was so pissed.
"Katelyn, how nice to see you again. Did you report me?" She rolled her eyes and looked back up at me.
"No, you're not worth my time." I chuckled a bit.
"I guess not, well, hopefully you can get along with me, so we can make this a smooth sailing year." I said in the nicest way possible. She put her hands on her hips. She did look hot.
"Well, when you say you don't care about the kids you teach and you doubt my child's academic ability, I'm not gonna be very nice."
"Whoa, whoa, I didn't doubt it, I just said I would be the judge, that's all. I'm trying to take Kaylie to new heights. She might think she knows a lot, when really, that could've just been a middle school thing. This is high school, there's a difference." I smiled politely. She may have been right, considering those quadratics, but like I said, quadratics were easy.
"I'm late for a meeting." She walked passed me. I turned around and watched her walk in and go to the office where Kaylie was waiting. I shook my head and went to my car. I drove to my house, I lived in the typical suburban neighborhood, trees along the sidewalks, brick houses, nice and quiet. I pulled up into my driveway. I got out and waved to my neighbors who I really didn't care to greet. I huffed and walked into the house.
"Hi Sissy!" I said to my dog. I love my dog, like, I literally will be fine just being friends with my dog and not having to talk to anyone. I started to cook myself some spaghetti. I can make a mean spaghetti, it was really the best. As soon as I finished, I sat down at the table and scrolled through my phone. If you haven't noticed, I always was on my phone.
When I finished, it was time for me to work out. I probably should've worked out before I ate, but I like to burn my dinner off too, so I just work out after. I put on a dri-fit shirt and mesh shorts, then started running around my neighborhood. I was looking around, as I usually do when I run. Look at people's yards, judging them against my yard, of course mine was better.
As I was running, I saw these people get out of their car, one looked fairly young and the other looked like it could be the mother. As I ran closer. "Oh god, you've got to be fucking kidding me."
It was Kaylie and Katelyn.
Hope you guys liked it. Until Next Time.
