Katelyn POV

"Kendall, I already told you and you even said you didn't care." He leaned on his elbows on the table.

"Now I do, so enlighten me. Isn't this the dinner of getting to know each other and each other's lives?" I chuckled. All of a sudden he wants to know about my life?

"Now you wanna know about my life?"

"Well I just oughta know your life, I mean, you come into my class about eight times everyday." Oh he's got jokes now. I wouldn't need to come into his class if he did what he was supposed to do.

"Well, you can blame yourself for me coming into your class all the time. I'm sorry that I'm a bother."

"I didn't say you were a bother because you're not a bother at all." What? Seriously? I wasn't expecting him to say that. I was expecting some smart ass remark or something.

"I'm not a bother?" He laughed lightly and shook his head. He took a sip of beer.

"I enjoy you coming to my class eight times a day, I look forward to it." He leaned toward me a little bit. "I stay an hour later everyday, just to see if you'll come." He sat back and picked up his glass, then drank. He stayed an hour later everyday, just to see if I'll come?

"I don't believe you." He chuckled.

"Don't believe me, check my clock out times. It's electronic, not paper, so I can't say I left an hour later when I really didn't." He smirked at me. Why did he do this? Why did he enjoy my company? Why was he giving me so much attention? I had a million questions.

"Why do you do this?" He crossed his arms and shrugged.

"I don't know." I rolled my eyes. I figured, he wasn't gonna give me the story. I will just be left with my mind wondering what it could be. He started to play with a crumb on his plate. "...but my answer might change if you...I don't know...tell me about Kaylie's father." Of course.

"Alright, you know what, fine. Kaylie's father, he didn't want her from the start. We were 16 and I had hoped when we got older, he would be more willing to take care of his child." He nodded, watching me intensely. Kaylie's father was a piece of shit, he did nothing for her and still does nothing to this day. We had a terrible relationship. "When we were 20, I called him and he told me that he had a daughter, it just wasn't Kaylie..." I wavered as I said it. "Can I s-stop now?"

"Yeah...I didn't mean to make you that emotional." I wiped my tears away.

"Kendall what did you expect, there's a reason I didn't wanna talk about it and you basically made me."

"I didn't make you, I just said my answer might change if you told me about her father-." I threw my hands up.

"Ok I told you! What exactly did you gain from that?" He shrugged and shook his head.

"I didn't wanna gain anything, I just wanted to know." I fake smiled, snatched my purse and got up, darting toward the door. I didn't need this right now. Talking about Kaylie's father was such an emotional topic for me because I was so stupid to think that he would be the one for me. I put my hand on the door knob and opened the door. It was shut quickly. "Katelyn, I'm sorry. Seriously." I shook my head and opened the door again.

I got myself together on the walk home so Kaylie wouldn't ask questions. I finally got myself together enough where I hoped she wouldn't notice. I unlocked the door and went in. I took off my jacket and went to the living room. I let out a sigh.

"Hey Kaylie." She looked.

"Hey, how was dinner with my math teacher?" Yeah she wasn't to fond on the idea and I totally get it because she thinks we're going in the direction of a romantic relationship, which may be true, but not right now.

I sat down with her and talked a while, watching tv on and off again.

About two hours later, the lights and tv suddenly went off. Leaving us in complete darkness.  The heat turned off as well, it was getting a little chilly in California, more than usual. Stupid global warming. "You've got to be kidding me?"

"Nope Mom, I don't think is a joke and it's getting seriously cold in here. I don't function in cold temperatures." I looked down at her and rolled my eyes. "Let's go to a neighbor's house! Mr. Schmidt's!" Oh no, no, no. After what happened at dinner, there was no way in hell. "You're all buddy buddy with him, so why not? Come on Mom." She gave me puppy dog eyes, "Do it for me?"

"Let's go." Wait, did the whole street have a power out? I looked out the window. The whole street was pitch black, but I looked over and saw the only lit house. Kendall's. He had a generator.

We walked down to his house. I walked up the curvy cement pathway, dreading every step. I knocked on his red door. A few moments later, I heard shuffling on the other side. He was gonna open it. The door opened a few seconds later and his eyes widened a bit, probably taken back from seeing me.

"Can we please stay with you for a while, it's pitch black and we have no heat." He raised his eyebrows and stepped back, letting us in. I'm glad he did so, I wouldn't put it pass him not to let us in.

"Thanks Mr. Schmidt." He put a thumbs up and shut the door. "Gotta tv?"

"Yeah, living room. Do you need-." She shook her head.

"I'll find it." She went down the hall to a different room. I started to follow her but my arm was grabbed.

"You're gonna come in my house and not talk to me?"

"I'd rather freeze my ass off in my house than talk to you." He put his hands in his pockets and nodded He changed his clothes. He was wearing Nike basketball shorts with a Vans shirt on. I enjoyed seeing him in his lounge wear, I wasn't gonna lie.

"Of course you would, I'd probably do the same if I could." Whatever. He ran a hand through his hair. "I'm so, so sorry. I shouldn't have made you do that. I really am sorry and this is the sorriest I've ever been in my entire life."

"It's whatever Kendall. You never answered my question though." He looked at the floor.

"What question?"

"You know what question." I crossed my arms. He groaned and gave me an angry look.

"Why the hell do you want to know so bad?" He looked pissed, I've never seen him so riled up. I've always seen him smirking and cocky, but never so upset and angry.

"Because I told you the most emotional thing I could ever say to someone. The least you could do is tell me why you're so amused by my company." He looked at me with dark eyes. Muscles flexed and popped out to the max. I kept my gaze constant and stern.

"Because you make me feel a way I've never felt before...you're doing something to me."

Hope you liked it. Until Next Time.
