Enjoy.
Katelyn POV
I had to work a little later today, so Kendall was going to take Kaylie home with him. I was in my office trying to figure out upcoming fashion shows. It was stressing me because I had been making sure the fashion shows were in order because my boss would've been pissed if we showed up at the wrong venue.
"Ok...ok." I tried to talk to myself as I did my work, so it wouldn't stress me out as much. I looked at my phone. 6:00pm, Kendall didn't text me, so I assume everything is going fine. At last, I finally start finishing up because I would've went insane if I had to continue another long list. I clapped for myself and shut my computer down. I packed everything up, but a knock came.
I looked up and saw my boss. Oh no...
"Leaving Katelyn?" I nodded.
"Yeah, I did all the scheduling, so everything is good." She slowly walked into my office. It seemed like she had something else in mind.
"I need you to stay longer and do the scheduling for next month as well. I need you to call, make appointments, set up times, all that." That brought my entire day down. I was so ready and set to go home, but she waltzes in and tells me 100 things more to do.
"Why can't anyone else do it?" She smiled.
"Because you're a great employee and I would like for you to do it." I didn't want her to think of me as a bad employee, so I'm going to do it because I want her to think highly of me. I put my stuff back down and looked back up at her.
"I'll get right on that ma'am." She gave me a thumbs up.
"I knew I could count on you." She closed my door with a loud thud. I looked at all the new tasks that were assigned to me and my stress flowed right back. I began working on them and calling people, until my phone rang. It was Kendall.
"Hello."
"Hey, you're still at work?" I slumped down in my chair and let out a huff.
"Yeah...I am..."
"Why do you have so much work to do?"
"My boss thinks I'm a great employee and she relies on me more than anyone else." He chuckled.
"What? Katelyn, you're not the only one working there. If you're the only great employee, she either needs to train the rest of her people or fire them. You cannot do all the work for a huge company. Your boss is absolute bullshit." I threw up my hand limply.
"Well, I can't do anything about it. She's my boss and I don't want to get fired Kendall."
"But you don't want to be walked all over either. It's about your self-worth, you should not being doing this by yourself."
"I shouldn't, but I am."
"No you're not, Kaylie and I are coming up there." With that the line went blank. I shook my head, the last thing I needed was for Kendall to go off on my boss.
I continued working, hoping that Kendall was lying and not actually coming up to my job, but I know that wasn't true. A few minutes later, I heard someone come in my office. I turned in my chair and saw Kendall. Oh god.
"Kaylie's in the car and I'm about to go all in on your boss." I stood up and went around the desk.
"No, no, no, I don't want to make anything more complicated. I'm just going to do this work." He shook his head.
"No because she's going to continue doing this to you, so she might as well fire everyone. I'm going to talk to her." As if right on que, my boss came in. This was just great, just great.
"Oh, Katelyn, didn't realize you had a visitor." I looked at her with a fake smile.
"Yeah he was just leaving." I gave Kendall a subtle death stare. He rolled his eyes and turned toward my boss.
"You're Katelyn's boss?" She nodded and smiled. She held her hand out.
"Nice to meet you." He stared at her hand and then back up at her. After a minute, she slowly brought her hand back and gave him a confused look. Oh no.
"I would shake your hand, but I don't like the way you've been treating my girlfriend." I came from around the desk and grabbed his hand.
"No, no he means nothing by that, at all." I tried to push him out, but he shook me off and continued glaring at my boss.
"Excuse me?" My boss said. Kendall crossed his arms and stared at her with daggers in his eyes.
"You basically make her do all the work that makes this company run. I don't know if you haven't noticed, but she's not the only one working here. If she's doing all the work, you might as well have one employee." My boss looked taken back as she stared at him with wide eyes.
"Excuse me for thinking that your girlfriend is reliable and highly admirable." He scoffed and shook his head.
"Yeah of course she's all those things, but that's not a reason to make her do all the work. This isn't Cinderella. She is worth more than just picking up everyone's slack, or not even their slack, the work you don't make them do." There goes my job. It was very true though. I guess I just didn't say it because I'm too nice and I thought this was my dream job working for this company. Maybe it's my dream job, just not here.
"Everything he's saying is true ma'am. I'm doing all the work and being stressed to the max. I feel like I'm the only one working here and I can't do that...I won't do that." My boss scoffed and shook her head.
"I see what happens when I want a great employee to pick a little extra work." A little extra work?! It was more like the entire business's work!
"I see what happens when someone catches you taking advantage of an employee that refuses to be walked all over and feels they are worth more than this shit job and your shit leadership." Kendall said. He grabbed my hand and led me out the office to the elevator. "I know how much you love working here, but I will not let them walk all over you like that and I know you don't want them walking all over you either." I looked at him as we waited for the elevator.
"Yell at me all you want. Cuss me out, slap me in the face, but I think that you will find a company that'll appreciate you more than this one ever could. Making you do all the work isn't appreciation." I smiled slightly and kissed him on the cheek. He look taken back, he thought I was upset.
"You are so right, thank you for helping me realize it." I heard the elevator doors open and stepped on to them. "You have to make me dinner tonight though."
"Of course I will babe."
Hope you liked it. Until Next Time.
