Enjoy.
Katelyn POV
Kendall had been over a lot lately. He didn't want to make it weird for Kaylie, but since she didn't seem to mind, he came over a lot more. I think Kaylie enjoyed his company more than I did. They always debated about math and Kendall showed her the hardest problem known to man right now.
They seemed to be starting a new relationship between them. Kendall didn't really seem like the dad type because right now between Kaylie and him, was more of a friend type relationship. It was totally fine with me, but hopefully down the road of our relationship, he can be the father Kaylie never had.
Of course I wasn't gonna spring that up on him when we just started dating a few weeks ago, I wasn't going to throw the responsibility of a kid on him. I was completely happy with the way things were going at the moment.
Right now, it was about 5:00pm and I just got done making dinner. Kaylie and Kendall were in the living room watching some game show. They were getting louder by the second, yelling at the tv, constantly. Kendall was helping Kaylie solve problems on the show as well. Unfortunately, I was gonna have to end their math party.
"Guys, it's dinner time!" I heard groans from the living room, then I heard the tv go off. They came in and began making their plates. "How was the show?" They looked at each other and laughed. "What's so funny..."
"Mom, you wouldn't understand if we tried to explain to you." Ah, I see. I put a thumbs up and made my plate. We sat in the dining room and began to eat.
"Got any boyfriends yet Kaylie?" She almost choked on her dinner. Got her.
"What would make you ask such a question?" I continued eating my food and shrugged.
"Just wondering..." Kendall chuckled and shook his head. I smiled at him. "So, no boyfriend?" She played with her food a bit. Yeah, she had a boyfriend.
"There may be...there may not be..." I put my fork down and looked at her.
"Alright, what's his name?"
"Ryder..." I narrowed my eyes a bit.
"Ryder Parker?" Kendall asked. She nodded slowly. "That kid is a bit of a nut Kaylie..." She sighed.
"Yeah, but he's so sweet..."
"Um, you can do better Kaylie." She chuckled.
"I will, eventually." I glared at her and she went back to eating her food. "Do you have Kendall to spy on me or something?" I nodded.
"You know it." I looked at him and he smiled back at me.
Dinner was finished and Kaylie said she was just going to turn in for the night. Kendall and I sat on the couch watching tv.
"Did you like my cooking?" He looked over and gave me an uncertain face. "Whatever." He laughed a little and grabbed my hand.
"I love your cooking, it was a great meal." I thumped him on the head as he closed his eyes. "What's with you pestering your daughter about having a boyfriend?" I gave him a 'really' look.
"She doesn't need a boyfriend yet." He shrugged.
"She's a great kid. Her grades are all good, let her have a little fun." I rolled my eyes.
"She doesn't have a dad figure to fight the boys for her or question them. I have to do all that, so I'm starting now." He played with my hand a while, then looked back up at me. He was thinking about something.
"I will be the one to chase the boys and question them for her. I'll do background checks and have my gun ready. Don't worry." I couldn't believe he said that. He was going to do that for Kaylie, I couldn't believe it. Not that I didn't think he wouldn't do it, I just didn't think he would do it now.
He was still an asshole, but such a sweetheart to me and Kaylie. It's like when we were together, he would always let his guard down. I put my hands on his cheeks and brought his lips to my own. It was a very magical moment I must say. A few seconds later, we pulled back. He had this dumb smirk on his face.
"Our first real kiss." He said. I nodded and gave him a quick kiss again.
"I couldn't take a it much longer, I had to feel your lips." He sighed and looked at me.
"I know, you could fall asleep on them, they're so soft, just like a pillow. I get the best of the best chap stick." I chuckled.
"Do you get the best of the best everything?" He nodded.
"Babe, I don't know why you haven't figured that out yet. I only get the best things, only, no less, but there could be more." I stroked the beard on his face. I love his beard, it was scruffy. I'm glad it wasn't too well cut.
"Kendall..." He looked up at me. His green eyes were so bright, like he was focusing only on me.
"Yeah?"
"I don't want to put you in the father position of Kaylie, if that's not what you want to do. I understand-." He cut me off by kissing me again. Of course that shut me up. He pulled back and smirked at me.
"I will never be Kaylie's father, but I do care about her and I do care about her feelings. I want to be there for her, anything she needs." That's all I needed to hear to know that I wanted to be in relationship with him. I needed to know that he would be there for me, that he would be there for us.
I never thought that I would be with someone like him. I never thought he would let his guard down for me. I didn't know that we could come to this point.
We weren't very far, but we were getting there.
Hope you liked it. Until Next Time.
