Jack

Jack was put into a small room. On one side he was seated and an empty chair was across the room from him. A Capitol soldier than came into the room.

"You may only speak with the family members, you may not make direct contact with them." The soldier ordered.

Jack wanted to ask why, but instead he only nodded.

The first person to come in, was Marzia, Felix's girlfriend, who lived in District 3 with him.

"Hello Marzia..." Jack said. "I'm so sorry for your loss."
"I had completely forgotten about it until just now." Marzia responded. "Why is this happening?"
"I'm not sure..." Jack shrugged.
---
Jack had continued to have nearly the same conversation with everybody else who came into the room. He spread his condolences to the families who had lost their loved ones, and they would ask why they were here, but he couldn't respond because even he had no idea.

Suddenly, the last person he met up with came into the room.

It was Robert's mother. And she wasn't real happy to see him. None of them were happy, but she was more angry than upset.

"You must be Robert's mother." Jack began, feeling nervous. "I'm sorry about the loss of your son..."
"You say that like it wasn't your fault." She immediately responded in a harsh, stern voice. "If you hadn't had left him behind, he wouldn't have been dead."
"In all due respect, it was a life or death situation." Jack remarked. "Robert had left me nearly burning to death during the beginning of the games."
"So you thought you would do the same by saying "Karma is a bitch" before leaving him to die?" She asked him, raising her voice.
"You heard all of that?" Jack asked.
"How could I not? Everybody heard it!" She exclaimed. "Why couldn't it have been you?"
"Please, I'm so sorry for what I said to him, I felt terrible about it." Jack choked.
"Sorry, doesn't bring my son back!" She remarked. "It doesn't bring anybody back!"

Suddenly, a group of Capitol soldiers came in and took her out of the room. Despite her anger she tried to let out on Jack, she cooperated and left the room with them.

Jack just sat there, leaning over, his face in his hands, beginning to sob.

Ryan

Ryan had the same situation going on, but with more people. The first person who came in was Mandy, Bob's wife, who he was one of the first people he had killed. Mandy though, was understanding. She knew that Bob wasn't going to fight in the games anyway, so she knew this would happen to him. The second person to come in was Mary, who also knew the fate of her boyfriend as soon as the reaping began. Both of them were understanding and actually forgave Ryan.

The third person who came in however, was Amanda, Matthias's wife, and her two year old daughter Luna.

She didn't show any emotion. She just stared at Ryan and Luna just sat there quietly, unsure of what was going on.

"I-I understand how you must feel right now..." Ryan began. "And I'm sorry..."
"You have no idea how happy we were as a family together before these games tore us apart." Amanda explained. "And now I have to work twice as hard in order to feed myself and my daughter and soon I have to tell my daughter that she no longer has a father, thanks to both you and these games."
"I-I did just as we were told to do." Ryan said. "Believe me, I never wanted to kill anybody either."
"Yet you killed the most people during the games." Amanda interrupted. "Do you know how much sense you're making right now?"
Ryan sighed. "Nothing makes sense anymore..."

Finally, the last family of the tributes he had killed came in. Dan's mother. She just sat there, staring angrily at Ryan. Ryan became confused by why everybody who came in here first stared at him before saying anything.

Maybe they were trying to see what a true killer looked like.

"I-I'm sorry about your son..." Ryan began.
"Why?" Dan's mother responded. "Why did you kill Dan and keep Phil tortured throughout the rest of the games?"
"I don't know..." Ryan shrugged. "I was just trying to do what I had to do."
"You had another reason, I know you did." Dan's mom reacted. "It was because they loved each other and you wanted to ruin everything, wasn't it?"

Ryan was silent. He knew he had thought about that while he was in the arena, but he didn't want to admit it.

All Dan's mom did was shake her head and walk out of the door, leaving him alone once again.

Jack

After everyone was done "visiting", Jack was sent back to his regular room. Moments later, Signe came in.

"How was it?" Signe asked.
"Horrible..." Jack responded. "Robert's mom hates me for killing his son, or leaving him behind, I should say."
"That is not your fault." Signe assured him. "He did the same thing with you. She knows exactly what he did to you, she just doesn't want to blame him for any of it."
"Yeah, I know..." Jack said.
Signe put her hand on Jack's shoulder. "Don't take it too seriously, she'll eventually apologize for being hard on you."
"How long will they be here?" Jack asked.
"For as long as you guys will be." Signe answered.
"Why?" Jack asked.
"Because of top secret information." Signe said. "They don't want anybody revealing anything to their Districts."
"I would much rather be home with strict rules than here at this point." Jack remarked.
"Trust me, no you don't." Signe responded.

The two of them were silent for a moment. Signe was actually about to get up and leave when Jack spoke again.

"What will happen now?" Jack asked.
"The same as usual." Signe responded.

With that, she left the room.
