It's been a couple of months since the games and since the tributes and their families have been brought into the Capitol. None of them have still been able to be released since. However, they have changed everything to make sure that their stay is the best it could possibly be. All of the rooms have changed so that the beds could actually be comfortable and they could feel right at home. There was also more clothing and actual food provided for them.
As for the tributes and the families themselves, they have gotten along with one another and they stick together since they are the only people there that can support them.
Jack
Early one morning, the lights came on much earlier than expected and the doors were opened as well. Jack sighed as he slowly sat up and went out into the hallways, where a Capitol soldier met up with him.
"What's going on?" Jack asked.
"The President would like all the tributes and their families into the meeting hall at once." The Capitol soldier responded.
"O-Okay." Jack responded.
The Capitol soldier brought him into the meeting hall, where everybody else was. Nobody knew what was going on. Nobody was there to tell them.
Jack saw Signe sitting in a chair and he went over and sat down next to her.
"What's going on?" Jack asked.
Signe shrugged, "I'm not sure, I was brought down here the same way you guys were too."
Suddenly, the speakers blared the Hunger Games music, making everybody jolt. Next thing they knew, they saw Caesar Flickerman on the screen.
"Good afternoon Panem, my name is Caesar Flickerman along with my co-host, Claudius Templesmith." Caesar announced. "Today marks the reaping of the 74th annual HUNGER GAMES!"
Jack's eyes widened, another Hunger Games? But it hasn't even been a full year since him, Mark, Phil and Ryan were in the games. Nobody has even mentioned anything about them in the games since they were brought back into the Capitol.
Did they make the Districts forget about them already?
"Today was quite a reaping today, especially for one particular District." Caesar announced.
"That's right Caesar, a young girl from District 12, Katniss Everdeen, volunteered herself after her younger sister Primrose Everdeen was supposedly selected for the games." Claudius explained.
Jack's jaw dropped and everybody in the room began mumbling amongst themselves.
"And this makes young Katniss Everdeen the first tribute ever to volunteer for the Hunger Games." Caesar explained.
Then, Jack noticed Phil getting up and leaving the room.
Phil
Phil's eyes widened as he heard the word volunteer come out of the announcer's mouth. It brought back memories of his reaping when Dan had volunteered for the games after Phil had been the first person selected for the games.
Then, he heard Caesar say something he would never forget.
"This makes Katniss Everdeen the first Tribute to EVER VOLUNTEER for the Hunger Games."
Phil immediately shook his head and left the room. As he was about to leave, Capitol soldiers blocked his way.
"You need to stay in here!" The soldier demanded.
"I need to get out of here now!" Phil stated.
"The President has ordered us to keep you in here until after the report is over." The second Capitol soldier explained.
"I don't give a damn what he said! I don't want to listen to this garbage!" Phil exclaimed.
The soldiers then loaded their guns. But before they could do anything, Phil's mom went and grabbed him and sat him back down.
"What're you doing?" His mom asked.
"I can't listen to this mum, I just can't." Phil cried. "And they're making up these false reports as if Dan had never volunteered. As if our games never happened!"
"Maybe they want it to be this way." Phil's mom responded.
"If they wanted it to be this way, then why in the hell would they have had all of us go out and kill each other in the first place?" Phil asked.
Phil's mom shrugged, "I don't know... But there's not much we could do about it."
Phil suddenly became emotional as the memories of Dan from the games had haunted him once more. These past few months had actually helped him with coping about Dan. But now that these games are happening again, and already almost copying the games he had suffered, everything was coming back.
And it may not ever go away now.
Jack
As the report had finally ended and everybody made their way out of the meeting hall, Jack stayed with Signe.
"What the hell was that?" Jack asked. "Somebody volunteered almost like Dan did in our games."
"I have no idea what's going on." Signe responded. "But I'm pretty sure with these games now somehow happening again, it's only going to get worse."
"What the hell can we do?" Jack asked.
Signe shrugged. "I'm not sure."
Jack sighed. "I feel like this is another experiment."
Signe looked at him confused. "How?"
"I feel like the Capitol is recreating everything just to torture us again." Jack said. "It's already happening with Phil, who knows what could happen next?"
"Well, nothing really has happened during the training process, so I guess we're just going to have to wait these next few weeks and see what happens in the game." Signe responded. "Until then, we need to try and calm everything down and show support to one another just like you always have."
"Yeah, probably." Jack said.
Signe
Signe parted ways with Jack after their conversation. Signe began growing nervous after what Jack had said to her about the Capitol.
She then went into Seneca Crane's room.
"Signe, what's wrong?" Seneca asked.
"I believe one of the tributes is beginning to catch on with our plan." Signe stated.
"Who?" Seneca asked.
"Jack." Signe responded.
Seneca sighed, "you've been the one talking to him this entire time, maybe you just didn't keep your mouth shut."
"I haven't said a single thing that could've given it all away, Seneca, I promise." Signe assured him. "He just figured it out through the news report we made them all watch."
Seneca then walked over to Signe and wrapped his arms around her. Signe rested her head on his shoulder.
"Well then, I guess we're going to have to do something about it, won't we?" Seneca asked.
"Like what?" Signe asked, looking up at Seneca.
"You'll have to wait and see." Seneca responded.
As Seneca was about to head out the door, Signe spoke up again.
"You won't hurt him, will you?" Signe asked.
Seneca didn't say anything. He continued walking out the door. Signe just stood there as the doors shut and locked behind him.
