Robert (yes, as in RobertIDK)

Robert came out of his room the next morning. He noticed Matthias sitting on the couch and looking at a picture of his wife Amanda and his child Luna.

"You're still looking at that photo, huh?" Robert asked.
"Yeah..." Matthias said. "They were just taken away from me."
"I can't imagine what that must be like." Robert said. "Having a wife and a child and suddenly being taken away from them."
"It hurts a lot..." Matthias responded. "I swear, I never thought something like this would happen."
"Have you even slept at all?" Robert asked.
"I've tried, but I've kept getting nightmares." Matthias responded.
"Can't say I blame you, I've been getting them too." Robert said. "I think everybody has..."

Robert was silent for a moment before talking again.

"Listen, I know you're upset about possibly losing your life and leaving your family behind, but staring at that photo the entire time will not help you." Robert explained. "Your family wants you to come back. Why not start thinking of ways that you could possibly make it through this alive?"
"Because the people at the Capitol are not just going to give me a slip because I have a wife and child." Matthias explained. "Just like how those other two boys in District 4 aren't getting a slip because they're a couple."
"I'm just saying you need to have some confidence..." Robert said, "for the sake of your family."

Matthias sighed flung the photo onto the table before sitting up on the couch and looking at Robert.

"I appreciate the optimism..." Matthias started. "But I wouldn't be keeping it if I were you."
"What do you mean?" Robert asked.
"This is the Hunger Games..." Matthias said. "If just one look of optimism is shown on any of the tributes' faces, they will make sure they suffer the most."
"How can you be so sure of that?" Robert asked.
"Because, I've watched the games each year, and all of the tributes who showed the most confidence throughout training ended up being the first to go." Matthias explained.
"How do you know?" Robert asked. "They could've gotten killed because they didn't train enough or something..."

Matthias was silent for a moment before shaking his head.

"Y'know what? Forget it..." Matthias said.

He then got up and went into another part of the train. Robert just stood there, feeling bad for asking any questions in the first place.

Matt

Matt was sitting in his room while the other person from his district, Ryan, was in the other room. Neither of them had spoken to one another since the reaping. It wasn't because they were scared or anything, it was because they hated one another.

Matt thought about the times where they were best buds at one point and how that one day just a few weeks ago, it just suddenly stopped. Matt really didn't even know why.

Matt knew Ryan was probably thinking about the games and how he might be the first intended target for him. He knew he didn't want to be. He didn't want Ryan to be his target either. He wanted to try and convince Ryan somehow that killing him first wouldn't be good. Because he knew all the other tributes in each district were probably good friends with one another and will possibly work together during training, and maybe even during the games.

Matt took a deep breath and sighed before standing up in his bed and walking out of the room and going into the room Ryan was in.

He thought at first Ryan was going to move away and go into another car, but he stayed right where he was.

Matt was hesitant at first, but then he spoke.

"H-Hey..." Matt said. Ryan didn't respond to him. Matt just slowly sat down in a chair near him.

But suddenly, Ryan spoke up.

"I know what you're thinking." Ryan stated. "And no, I'm not thinking about killing you."
"Really?" Matt asked.
"I'm thinking of killing everybody." Ryan said.
Matt let out a slight chuckle. "That doesn't surprise me."
"Well we have to, don't we?" Ryan asked.
"No... Not really..." Matt responded. "Not yet, I mean."

The two were silent for a moment.

"You know, you can always make an alliance..." Matt said.
"Nah, I prefer to work alone." Ryan said.
"You used to work with me..." Matt said.
"Well, times have changed." Ryan assured.
"Why? What caused it?" Matt asked.
"Family troubles, nothing you should be concerned about." Ryan said.
"Well we used to work together, so I at least need to know something." Matt explained.
"I gave you my reason, okay?" Ryan exclaimed. "Family troubles... Nothing more, nothing less!"

Matt was silent for a moment before nodding. Ryan then went into another room with a huff.

Wade

Wade and Bob had zero confidence at all about the game. They didn't even want to be a part of it. Every year their district protested the most about the games and they wanted to continue doing that even though they are now tributes for the game.

"So what're we gonna do?" Wade asked.
"Nothing..." Bob said. "We aren't going to do anything."
"What do you mean?" Wade asked.
"During the opening ceremonies, we're not gonna go out there." Bob explained. "And during training, we're not gonna do anything."
"They'll probably force us to do the opening ceremonies..." Wade said.
"They'll give us a little push." Bob stated. "But during training, they could care less."
"What makes you think us not doing anything is going to suddenly change anything?" Wade asked.
"Oh, it will..." Bob assured. "Believe me..."

Wade didn't say anything, he only nodded. Although he was worried about the future and what their "protests" would bring.

Hi guys! I just wanted to clear this up real quick. The part with Matt and Ryan, there will be no mention of Daniel throughout this story if you were thinking along the lines of that during that part.

Now for a few questions.

- Do you think Matthias was harsh on Robert or do you think what he said was true?
- Do you think Matt and Ryan will ever become "allies" during the story?
- What kind of things do you think will happen to Bob and Wade during the story?
