Jack

Jack opened his eyes, slowly but surely and moving his head slightly to his side. His vision was very blurry at first, and he had felt like he had been asleep for years. Even though his vision was blurry, he could tell the person who was right next to him thanks to his bright, red hair.

As his vision became more clear, he could see Mark's smile.

"Hey." Mark smiled. "How do you feel?"
"W-What happened?" Jack asked.
"We got into a bad train crash, and the people from District 13 were able to help us." Mark explained.

Jack then slowly sat up, but immediately felt immense pain, causing him to lay back down again.

"What the hell?" Jack moaned.
"Oh yeah... and you kind of got shot..." Mark reminded him.
"Oh yeah..." Jack remembered. "By that asshole engineer."

Jack then looked over at Mark.

"Are we seriously in District 13?" Jack asked.
"Yes we are." Mark nodded. "We finally made it."
Jack smirked a smile, breathing a sigh of relief. "I'm just glad we're finally out of the Hellhole we call the Capitol."
Mark smiled back, "Me too buddy, me too..."

Dan

Dan slowly opened his eyes. His vision was blurry, but he could already see bright lights surrounding him. He slowly raised his hands up to shield himself from the bright lights.

Just then, somebody grabbed his arm, which nearly startled him.

"Dan..." the voice said. "It's okay, you're safe now."

He recognized that voice anywhere.

It was Phil.

As Dan lifted his arms down, he could see the outline of Phil's face, still blurry. But as he continued to stare at him, his vision became clearer.

He then smiled and embraced Phil tightly. Phil hugged him back.

"You're alive!" Phil exclaimed, nearly emotional.
"Y-Yeah." Dan responded, barely remembering what happened to him. "I-I guess I am."

Dan then looked around in the area he was in.

"Where the hell are we?" Dan asked.
"We're in District 13, like we wanted!" Phil responded.
Dan then looked down at the sling on Phil's arm. "Then how in the hell did you get that?"
Phil sighed. "Our train crashed as we were heading to District 13. It's a miracle we all somehow made it out alive. Especially you, Dan..."
Dan became confused, "why? What happened?"
"As we were on the way to District 13, you began to die. Apparently the Capitol did something to you."
Dan's eyes widened, "Are you saying I was being controlled by the Capitol that entire time?"
"Yes, but you're not anymore." Phil assured him. "The doctors were able to remove the source and resuscitate you back to life."
Dan sat there, still in shock over the fact that he was controlled by the Capitol, but he finally responded, "O-Ok."

Phil then embraced him again. Dan hugged back, but still confused and upset at the Capitol. All this time he had been alive, but he never knew he was under the Capitol's control, and he nearly died again because of that.

Hopefully Phil was right and he didn't have to worry about them anymore.

One Day Later

No POV

The next day, the entire group of tributes and their families were brought into the main hall of District 13 for their welcoming ceremony. It wouldn't be much or anything festive, which none of them minded at all, especially after being at the Capitol.

All of them gathered around down the hallway and were greeted by the President of District 13, Alma Coin. After farther instruction, the entire group made their way down the hall over to the main hall of District 13, where people were already gathered.

Amanda

Amanda held Luna's hand tightly as they were walking down the hallway. Just as they were near the main hall, however, Luna tried pulling away from her.

"Mommy, mommy!" Luna exclaimed with excitement.

Amanda looked down at Luna, who had a bright smile on her face. A smile she hasn't seen in absolutely forever.

She then smirked a smile and picked her daughter up.

"Luna, what's going on?" She asked.

Luna then pointed in the opposite direction of where they were headed. Amanda looked behind her, seeing absolutely nothing.

"Luna, no one's there." Amanda assured her.

Luna still continued to point in the same direction she's been pointing to, which began to confuse Amanda.

"Sweetie, we'll go back there after the ceremony alright?" Amanda asked.

Luna then stopped pointing, but was still looking in that direction. Amanda then put Luna down and held onto her hand as they continued walking.

The two of them caught up with the rest of the group as they approached the balcony that overlooked the main hall. They all looked in awe at the amount of people in the main hall. There were so many people, so many survivors. So many people every District thought were dead. It was incredible and miraculous.

"Good afternoon, Ladies and Gentlemen." President Coin began as she approached the podium. "Today is a very special day in which we welcome the survivors of the last Hunger Games. A game in which many people were forced to forget."

A loud cheer rang throughout the audience.

"The 4 remaining tributes along with their families and the other tributes and their families made a miraculous decision to escape the Capitol just a few days ago." Coin continued to explain.

Just then, Amanda felt Luna letting of her hand again. Before she could grip it tighter, Luna had already escaped.

"LUNA!" Amanda shouted, interrupting the entire ceremony.

She then began running down the hall to try and catch up with Luna but before she could do so, she rolled on her ankle and fell to the floor.

As she looked back up at the still running Luna, she watched as she turned and ran into another room. Amanda, despite the pain in her ankle, walked down the hall and into the room.

As she entered the room, she could hear the sound of Luna giggling. A sound that once again, she never thought she could hear again.

As she finally saw the only source of light in the room, she noticed a man carrying her. Luna had her arms wrapped around him.

Suddenly, the man turned towards Amanda. Her eyes widened and her heart racing, tears nearly filling her eyes as she saw somebody she never thought she would see again.

Matthias.
