"Jack... Wake up, it's time..." Jack heard her mother's voice early that next morning.

He sighed and took a deep breath, staying absolutely still. He didn't want to get up and face this day. He just wanted to lie down and pretend this was all a dream.

But it wasn't. And he had no choice.

As he got up and got dressed. As he was getting ready, his mind kept filling with his thoughts from when his district was called as the last chosen for the reaping. The look on Courtney, his mom and Mark's face haunted him and it possibly would forever.

Or maybe it wouldn't. If he somehow survived the games, the memories from the games would forever haunt him. It would make last nights memory just a phase.

Afterwards, he went downstairs, having to face his mother and Courtney, who were both already crying.

"Please don't cry..." Jack begged. "Not now..."
"You know as soon as your name is called from that jar, you'll be forced out of the district and into the Capitol." His mom explained. "We won't even get to say goodbye to you."

Courtney then thrusted her arms around her brother, growing emotional.

"I don't want you to go..." She cried.
"I know..." Jack said. "But when I leave, and if I don't come back, I need you to take care of yourself okay?"
"I don't know if I could do that..." Courtney choked.
"Yes, you can..." Jack assured her. "You're stronger than you think..."

He gave her a kiss on the forehead.

Suddenly, an officer from the Capitol knocked on the door and opened it.

"Mr. McLoughlin, it's time..."
---
As Mark and Jack stood on the stage, staring in the distance to everyone, they waited patiently and quietly for the reaping to begin.

Finally, a woman from the Capitol, Effie Trinket, walked onto the stage. She was wearing a purple tight dress, white curly wig and makeup as pale as snow

There was a moment of silence before the woman finally and without any hesitation spoke into the microphone.

"Good morning District Two and Happy Hunger Games!" Effie announced to the audience.

There was no applause, just silence.

"Today is a very special year for the Hunger Games, because this year, two of our own entertainers around the District of Panem from six randomly selected districts will be participating in this year's Hunger Games."

Another round of silence filled the air.

"Alright." Effie said. "I will just start with the reaping then, since you all seem too eager."

Jack stood there, with nothing but questions.

Why the hell are we still being selected from the jar? It's obvious me and Mark are the only ones. Is it just for the entertainment?

Effie then reached into the glass jar that had only their two names on it.

"Our first person selected to participate in the Hunger Games is, Mark Edward Fischbach."

Mark did not say anything. He just stepped forward. Effie then reached in for the other piece of paper.

"Our next and final selection for this year's Hunger Games is, Sean William McLoughlin."

Sean did not say anything. He just stepped forward.

"Well, there you have it, our two contenders for this year's Hunger Games." Effie exclaimed. "As soon as they leave the stage they will be brought to the Capitol where they will begin their training for the Hunger Games."

Two soldiers from the Capitol went behind Jack and Mark and took them off the stage. As they were lead out, they heard Effie's voice come in through the microphone once more, but all Jack could really hear were the words that were repeated every year.

"May the odds be ever in your favor..."

---

Mark and Jack were taken inside of a car where moments later, Effie sat across from them as they headed to the station. Effie began talking again about the Hunger Games but Jack barely listened as he watched the people he passed just glaring at him, upset that they would have to be in the games. Then, before he knew it, his District was behind him.

---

A couple minutes later, Mark, Jack and Effie came out of the car and into a train, where they would be living the next few days as they would be taken to the Capitol.

"You boys will quite enjoy this ride." Effie explained. "The train will be moving at a quick and smooth pace, so you'll barely feel like you're on it."

Jack looked out the window, as they were still at the station.

Suddenly, the door opened as a young girl walked into the room they were in. She was just about the same age as Mark and Jack.

"Who are you?" Mark asked.

"My name is Signe..." She responded. "I'll be your trainer for the games."

"Didn't you win the games a few years ago?" Jack asked.

"Yep." Signe nodded. "It was a surprise to everyone, including me. But now, like most of the other winners, I spend my time helping the future players of the Hunger Games."

"So what exactly will you be teaching us?" Mark asked.

"About the games, about how to survive, what else?" Signe asked.

Mark gave Jack a look, it was a look that said that he didn't like her smart-ass attitude, but at the same time, she was pretty hot.

Suddenly, the entire group felt a jolt as the train suddenly took off for the Capitol.

Sorry if you guys don't like the fact that I still had Effie in here and then I just decided to randomly choose Signe instead of Haymitch as their trainer. I just thought it would be cooler that way.

More to come!
