Signe
Signe' eyes widened as she heard the woman mention that she was in District 13. There was no way she could have been in District 13.
"H-How long was I out?" Signe asked.
"Probably for an entire 24 hours." The woman explained. "It took us a few hours to find all of you and take you back, you're very lucky you all survived."
"Wait, what?" Signe asked. "One person was dying and the other person was shot."
"We were able to save them, but just barely." The woman stated. "They're both in very serious condition."
Signe sat up again, even after being told to keep laying down. She then felt immense pain go through her hip and leg area.
"That's why I told you to lay down!" The woman exclaimed. "You have a fractured hipbone and knee and we tried to numb the pain as much as possible."
Signe sighed. "I want to see a friend."
"We'll see if we can arrange for somebody to take you there by wheelchair." The woman responded.
Signe nodded and laid back down and watched as the woman left the room to get somebody.
Phil
Phil, with miraculously only a broken arm, was sitting in a chair, next to a bed where Dan was laying. He was still... too still, but still managing to breathe somehow.
Phil was still taking everything in on how these people from District 13 were able to save Dan with only using a few resources. These people were almost like the answers to his prayers he's been waiting for.
Just then, a young man, a doctor, came in.
"How has he been doing?" The doctor asked.
"He's breathing." Phil responded. "That's all that matters."
"He's progressing slowly but surely." The doctor assured Phil. "He's going to be just fine."
Phil then turned to the doctor. "How were you able to save Dan? With barely any resources?"
The doctor looked at Phil with a serious expression. "Here in District 13, we work together with who and what we have to try and work things out. We weren't going to give up on this boy just because Seneca Crane from the Capitol shut his body down. We were able to find the source of his ability to control him and we took it out. Then, we were able to revive him and slowly bring him back from there."
Phil smiled, almost emotionally. "You guys are like the miracles I've been waiting for."
The doctor smiled, "I can assure you, the long time of suffering is over. You can all live the life you've been wanting to live. But you have to promise us that you will work with us as one large group."
"I promise." Phil nodded. "I will do anything to live the life I've been wanting to live before these games."
The doctor then patted him on the shoulder before making his way out of the door.
Phil then looked over at Dan again, taking his hand and gripping it tightly.
"I love you, Dan..." Phil kept whispering to him. "I promise you everything will change for the better once you recover. Just please hang in there, okay?"
Mark
Mark, who also had a broken arm but also a bandage around his head, was also in another room, but this time looking after Jack. He was still unconscious, and the doctors said he probably wouldn't wake up for possibly another day, but that he would be okay.
The door suddenly opened as Signe was wheeled in by a wheelchair.
"Hey." Mark said. "How you holding up?"
"I'm okay." Signe responded. She then looked over at Jack. "How is he doing?"
Mark sighed. "They said he wouldn't probably wake up for another day, but that he should be okay."
Signe breathed a sigh of relief. "That's good."
Mark noticed Signe with an upset look on her face.
"Are you alright?" He asked.
"I just should've never have left Jack alone with that engineer..." Signe stated. "He wouldn't have been shot, and I wouldn't have killed the engineer and the train wouldn't have crashed."
"Signe, don't blame yourself for what happened." Mark assured her. "Believe it or not, I'm glad that this happened, and that we all survived the crash. It would've taken us a lot longer for the train to get to District 13, and who knows what would've happened to us then, especially Dan."
"Y-Yeah, I guess..." Signe nodded in agreement.
The two of them were silent for a moment before they spoke again.
"How's everybody else doing?" Signe asked.
"I'm not exactly sure." Mark shrugged. "But all I know is that there are no actual serious injuries besides maybe Dan and Jack, and that's it."
"I still can't believe that." Signe said.
"Me neither." Mark agreed.
"What do you think will happen after all of us have recovered?" Signe asked.
"I heard that the leader is going to hold some type of ceremony to welcome us to their District. Then we're going to be assigned jobs based on what we can and can't do."
Signe sighed jokingly. "Just what we wanted. More work."
"Well, at least we can finally work together without having to worry about these games or the Capitol." Mark stated.
Signe sighed. "I still don't think we're off the hook from the Capitol just yet... having worked with Seneca before, he probably knows exactly where I am and will probably attack at any moment."
"I wouldn't worry about that right now." Mark assured her. "I would just worry about recovering and getting to know District 13 a little more."
"Yeah I guess." Signe nodded.
"We'll be fine Signe, I promise." Mark said.
Signe didn't say anything, she only nodded.
The two of them decided to stay in the room for a little while longer before they had to leave for the night.
