“Did I Just Say That?”
The condo, living room, alone, around... 4pm
Somehow, whenever Patrick left, I was no longer bewitched by “love.” It's terrible. I have a houseshow at the Union Center tonight and somehow I need to be around Alex for the first time since the breakup. I'm currently trying to deal with this while curled up on the far right side of my couch with my head resting on the arm of the couch. I can't even sit up. I turned my head to rest on my chin and saw a down-turned picture. I never touched that before. I did my best to sit up and turned it upwards. It was a picture of me and Alex. He was wearing a black button down shirt with half the buttons undone and the necklace I bought him on his bear chest. It was taken at the mall on Monday. I just stared at it for a while. I was just about to enter flashback mode when I heard someone knock at the door. THANK YOU.
“Coming!” I called out to them as I, painfully, got off the couch. How was this causing me physical pain?? I walked over to the door while holding my stomach. I sighed and tried to fix myself up before opening the door. I finally opened the door and the pain in my gut went away instantly. “Alex?”
“Hey.” he said, leaning against the door frame. I was speechless. Much less that he was here compared to what he was wearing. “Can I come in?”
“Um... yeah, sure.” I said, stepping aside. “Um... why are you--”
“Here? I have to tell you something.” he said, walking in a few steps and turning around to me. I closed the door and just kept staring at him.
“Um, no. I was gonna ask why you're dressed like Spike from Buffy in the scene where he kills Robin Wood's mother.” I said, folding my arms. He looked down at himself and shrugged. “And I mean this is an exact wardrobe replica.”
“Yeah, just needed to... you know, change my image.” he said, putting his hands in his pockets. I chuckled and stepped closer to him.
“To what? A wannabe Vampire?” I asked, trying to hold back laughter. It's actually kinda hot...
“No. I mean, I'm dating someone new”--****--“and I thought this would help them move on from the memories of you. What I'm saying is that the way I dressed before, I dressed when I was with you. And they know you, so this'll help them get the image of you with me out of their head.”
“I... who are you dating?” I asked, for some reason getting a little defensive.
“Kelly. I thought it'd be rude to just leave her there all helpless and scarred after what happened.” he answered. Scarred?
“Oh... okay. Well, is that all?”
“No. See, I know this must be really hard on you.” I nodded. “Okay. I just want to make amends.”
“By doing what? Giving me the news that you're sleeping with anther woman?” I asked. “Yeah, that'll help.” I tagged on sarcastically.
“Look, stop dwelling! You need to move on from me!” he said, getting a little cocky. I rose an eyebrow to him and put my hands on my hips.
