Thirty-Nine

*Cecile laughs*

Cecile: "This has been so much fun. We make a great duo."

Ben: "Yeah, we're like the best team. I feel like I've known you my whole life."

Cecile: "In the most non-creepy way possible, I guess technically I've known you my whole life. Or at least the 'you' on tv."

Ben: "Which isn't much different, or so people tell me."

*Cecile smiles*

Ben: "So where to now?"

*Cecile takes a look at her watch*

Cecile: "Hmmm I don't know. It's almost midnight."

*Ben takes a gulp*

Ben: "Maybe back to your place...?"

Cecile: "Oh. Um, yeah sure."

Ben: "Or my place. Or neither. We can call it a night here. Just suggestions."

Cecile: "No, no. I said I'd show you around one day. Let's go."

*Ben and Cecile make their way back to her place*

Cecile: "Welcome to my humble little abode."

Ben: "Bungalow, right? It's gorgeous. Got that rustic feel."

Cecile: "Well come, I'll show you around."

*Cecile takes Ben's hand and leads him through each room*

Cecile: "And finally, the master bedroom."

Ben: "Ouu so you're the master, eh?"

Cecile: "Why yes I am, young squire."

Ben: "That bed looks super jumpy."

Cecile: "Don't test it!"

*Ben shrugs*

Ben: "Sorry, I'm a rule breaker."

*Ben lifts Cecile up and brings her over as he leaps onto the bed*

*Cecile falls face-first on Ben and laughs*

*She stares down into his eyes and they end up leaning in to a kiss*

*Ben quickly pulls back and puts his arms on her shoulders*

Ben: "Shit. I'm sorry. I can't do this."

*He slides out from under her and gets up*

Cecile: "Oh my god. Ben, I'm so sorry."

Ben: "No, it's not that. It's not you. It's something else and I have to deal with it right now."

Cecile: "Umm... okay. It's the middle of the night."

Ben: "It can't wait. Look, I'm really sorry about this but I have to go."

*Ben ends up calling a cab and giving them an address back in the city*

*Ben knocks on the door over and over until it finally opens*

Danielle: "Ben, what are you doing here? It's like two in the morning."

Ben: "This couldn't wait."

*Ben steps in the door and moves into her living room*

Ben: "Don't talk, just listen. I've made up my mind and it's you. It's always been you and it always will be. I don't need to go all the way with anybody else to know that I will never feel for anyone else the way I feel for you. Don't make this harder than it has to be. I've been fighting for you my whole life, boldly and silently, and I've been so goddamn patient. I want to be with you, whole-heartedly. And we don't have to move fast, we just have to move together. This is me opening up everything to you. Getting together permanently, for real, could be a huge risk and if anything went wrong, we could lose our entire friendship. So you can say the word and we'll be over for good, and keep what we've built and become. But the ball is in your court now. I'm here if you want to risk it all."
