Summer looked out the window and smiled widely. The beautiful scene temporarily took away her anxiety. They were parked on top of a sloping hill, which later flattened into a small grassy area which led to the dock.On the hill there were stairs which were roughly crafted out of scrap wood, which added a sense of rustic beauty. The long grass was a bright emerald green and there were clusters of wildflowers. She recognized some violets, bluebonnets, and asters. There were also some orange and pink flowers that she had never seen before. The lake was a dark cerulean blue, and there was a long dock made out of older wood. A small group of maple trees on the right side of the waters edge, and on the waters edge was an enormous maple, which marked the beginning to the group of trees.

"Are you coming or not?" Austin asked.

"Sorry, I was just, I mean, it's just so, I can't even!" She answered passionately.

He laughed at her response and motioned toward the stairs. She hopped out of the pickup and walked down the slope. A small burst of wind pushed her hair behind her and made the grass sway. There was a few fluffy white clouds that the wind was pushing across the bright blue sky. She watched as the cloud's shadows danced across the ground before disappearing into the trees. The long grass brushed against her ankles as she walked through the flat area.

"Finally you made it!" a voice called.

"Ya, you're lucky we didn't start swimming without you!" another voice added.

"Whatever, it's not like you've never been late before." Austin retorted.

Austin gave the guys fistbumps and smiled at the girls. There was a total of six people there. Her, Austin, two guys, and two girls. The guys looked like the typical jocks, a tall and fit physique with perfectly messy hair. The girls also had the appearance of typical popular girls, well done makeup, tan skin, and cheerleader ponytails. After a few quick words of greeting one of the guys said "So are we going to swim or not?"

The taller of the three guys ran his fingers through his jet black hair. He walked to the large maple tree that was on the edge of the water. The group followed. He climbed up the branch that was closest to the ground. After making his way to the edge of the thick branch he grabbed a rope that was hidden among the leaves. He flashed a quick smile back at the group before swinging into the water. One after another the guys swung into the water. The blonde girl grabbed the rope and looked like she was going to swing, but chickened out at the last second and lowered herself into the water off the branch. The other girl with tiger orange hair also lowered herself into the water.

"Hey new girl!" called the guy with black hair, "I'll give you five bucks if you swing off the rope."

"Five bucks says she wont" Said the other guy with dirty blonde hair.

Summer climbed up the branch slowly considering swinging. She thought of her favorite Starbucks drink and how five bucks would be enough to buy it, but she also looked at how deep the water was. She could see the bottom through the crystal clear water. She grabbed the rope, closed her eyes and jumped. She let go of the rope and plunged into the water. Her hand flung to her face to keep her glasses on. She planted her feet on the lakes bottom and shot herself up.

The group was applauding when she came up. She caught her breath.

"Looks like the new girl's got guts!" the black haired guy claimed. "Pay up Sean!"

Sean rolled his eyes while Austin and the two girls laughed.

"Hey, you should probably take your glasses off, Summer" Austin said.

Summer took off her glasses and put them in Austin's hand. He placed them on the dock, and then pulled himself onto the dock. He ran to the end and did a flip off.

"Come on man, stop showing of." The guy with black hair said.

"Like you can do better, Ty."

The guys spent the next hour trying to out do each other while the girls laughed at them and talked among them. After a while Austin said "Hey guys, I gotta go, see you on Monday."

"Come on, can't you stay a little longer?" The orange haired girl asked

"Nope, sorry, gotta take my little sister to a movie."

As Austin pulled himself onto the dock, he stepped on summers glasses and broke them.  She, of course, couldn't tell what was happening because everything was so blurry. In fact she'd held onto the dock almost the entire dock.

"I'm so sorry Summer, I, I can buy you new glasses, I'm sorry."

"What happened? What about my glasses?"

"The idiot crushed them" Ty sneered.

"It's fine, Austin, I know you didn't mean too."

"How well can you see? I'm going to hold my hand over my head and you can tell me how many fingers I have up."

Summer squinted and tried to make out how many fingers he was showing. Instead she saw some faint white letters over his head. She rubbed her eyes to make sure they weren't playing tricks on her. She looked back at his head but the letters were still there, and they were clearer. They said run.

"Run?" she whispered.

"What?" Austin asked.

"Oh, umm, I said one. Are you holding up one finger?"

"Umm, no I'm not. Do you want me to take you home?"

The words over his head said yes, but they didn't seem important. It was probably her eyes playing tricks on her.

"No, it's okay, take your sister to her movie, she's probably wondering where you are."

"Okay, see you on Monday."

The words over his head were back to run. She turned around to the rest of the group. She could see faint letters over their heads, but she ignored them.

Another hour passed, and everyone was getting tired. One after another they climbed out of the water. After they packed up, they all gathered around Summer. She felt a shiver go up her spine. As much as she didn't want to, she read the words. They all said one thing, take, take, take

"Sorry, Summer" Ty began, "I was starting to like you."

She backed up into something, no, someone.

"Ya," Sean agreed, "You're pretty, especially without those glasses on."

"Okay guys," the blonde girl interrupted, "Time to do what we were sent here to do."

Someone pinned her arms against her back. She kicked back as hard as she could and felt her foot collide with someone. Their grip loosened and she tore herself free and took off running into the woods.
