Summer held her hands out in front of her face. She squinted trying to see what was in front of her, because between her hair flying into her face and her glasses being broken, she wasn't seeing very clearly. She swerved just in time to miss a tall brown blur she thought was a tree. She could hear a mixture of voices behind her, but she didn't dare try to concentrate on anything but running. Her heart pounded against her ribs and she was out of her breath. Keep going, keep going,  she urged herself. She felt her ankles catch against a large root and she did a somersault into a large bush. She pushed herself into the bush and prayed they wouldn't see her. Her ankle throbbed and she bit her lip, trying to keep herself from crying. A sound of footsteps passed and someone said

"Great job, idiot, you lost her."

"Actually, you couldn't even hold her long enough so I could tranquilize her" another voice sneered.

"You try holding someone's arms after they nail you in the shins."

"Okay guys" a female voice broke in "we need to look for her, me, Sean, and Austin will go ahead and look for her, Ellie will stay here."

With that they departed. Summer heard their steps getting fainter and fainter as they walked away. She squinted through the leaves and say an orange blob that looked like a head of hair. She knew if she didn't do something, they would eventually find her. Summer went through a list of possible situations, but nothing would work. Ellie was more experienced in Summer, and with her hurt ankle and her lack of vision, she didn't stand a chance. The only way she did have a chance would be if she surprised her. She figured that Ellie was excited o take Summer down and she was going to be alert for any noise. Waiting it out looked to be a good option.

After what seemed like an hour, Summer decided she was ready. She slowly got onto her knees and crept out of the bush. Ellie's shoulders looked slumped, which appeared to be a good sign. She got onto her feet and winced. Her ankle felt like it was on fire. She made her way up to Ellie silently; she held her fists together, and swung them against Ellie's temples as hard as she could. Ellie fell to the ground but quickly got back up and ran at Summer. Summer tensed for impact and felt Ellie collide with her. They fell to the ground and Summer reached for Ellie's pocket, looking for a weapon. She found a small knife and pulled it out of Ellie's belt. Ellie got up, stood over Summer, and raised her foot, about to smash down on her nose. Summer pulled her knees up and swung her feet toward Ellie's back. Her feet impacted and Ellie fell over Summer's face. Summer pulled herself out from under Ellie and limped quickly away. A gunshot rang out. Summer ducked, turned around, and saw Ellie walking over to her. I'm going to die, I'm going to die, I'm going to die, Summer thought. She picked up a small rock and kissed it for good luck. She sighed at her hopelessness and threw it. She heard it land, and Ellie must have also because she started walking in that direction. Summer hauled herself up and pulled out the knife.  She ran at Ellie with the knife, and as Ellie turned around she stabbed her in the thigh. Ellie screamed and shot at Summer. Summer felt the bullet graze her arm and her arm flung to the wound. She looked at Ellie, and it seemed as if she was curled up, rocking back and forth. She was quietly singing, and as she continued to sing, Summer recognized the tune as the one Austin was singing in the truck, but there were words this time.

"Quiescere non potest, I cannot rest,Usque omnes ops, est adductus illus, I cannot rest, I cannot rest."

Summer grabbed the gun that laid on the ground and limped away. Finally she made it to the highway. A police officer saw her waving at him and picked her up.

"What's wrong?" he questioned.

"Please" She begged "I just want to go home."
