It was him, the guy from first hour. She didn't think he would look the way he did. He was one of the cutest guys she'd ever seen, and one of the only guys who had ever talked to her.
"Hey" he said "I forgot to thank you for giving me the answer"
When he smiled, his dimples showed. Summer felt her face grow warm. Thankfully her hair hid any signs of her blushing.
"Umm, your welcome" She said.
"So are you new around here? I've never really seen you around before today."
"Actually, I've been here since last year."
"Oh, I normally remember seeing pretty girls"
She had no clue what to say. Was he talking about her?
"I'm Austin Lyons, by the way."
"I'm Summer Akkesson."
"I had a girl in my sixth grade year named Summer. I always wanted to talk to her, but I was too shy."
"Oh," She murmured "I should probably go..."
"No!" He blurted out. A look of amusement crossed her face as he turned red. "I mean, I umm wanted to ask you if you wanted to maybe hang out with me and my friends?"
She almost said yes, but realized that this was probably some sick joke they wanted to pull on her for sitting near them.
"I'll pass, sorry."
"Come on, it'll be fun."
She opened her mouth to say no again, but maybe it was the way his eyes perfectly reflected the suns warmth, or how his hair danced in the wind that made her think again.
"Sure."
"Great! I'll pick you up at three on Saturday?"
"Umm, ya, sounds great. See you then."
As he walked away, he paused for a minute, and turned around. Her stomach dropped. He was probably going to tell her that he didn't mean any of that, and this was a cruel prank.
"By the way" He started. She braced herself for the next words. "I really like your glasses."
