Summer eventually dozed off and had an extremely weird dream about being in a trio with Connor and Austin. If the bedazzled jeans weren't enough, they had a dance routine to some song from the eighties. When Austin shook her awake, she laughed for five minutes strait. The guys decided not to ask.
"Where are we?" Summer asked as soon as she gained control of her laughter.
" Dothan, Alabama" Connor said while pulling the keys out of the ignition. "It's time for a lunch- slash- bathroom-slash- gas-slash- snack buying break."
They climbed out of the truck and stumbled into the gas station on half asleep legs. Austin walked over to the sandwiches while Connor hurried to the bathroom.
"Summer?" Austin called from down the aisle
"What?" She looked over her shoulder at him.
"You brought a twenty, right?"
"Ya."
"Go buy us some candy, then."
She laughed and turned back to the candy that she was eyeing originally. Her choices were mini Reeses cups, sour gummy worms, and hot tamales. After she paid she took a detour to the bathroom then waited at the truck for the guys. Austin rolled up the tank and hopped on the driver's seat because "It's only fair". Connor glared at him and got into the passenger seat. "Be careful with my truck." He grumbled. Austin handed out sandwiches and Summer held the bag of chips in her laps while the guys grabbed the occasional handful.
"So" Austin said in between bites of his sandwich "we should get to Charlotte around eight tonight, that gives us time for one more bathroom break."
"What about dinner?" Connor asked.
"We'll get dinner in Charolette."
"In eight hours?"
"Yup"
"You're gonna starve me!" Connor whined.
Austin shrugged "Oh well"¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤
Ava sat in a chair nearest to the exit. She was waiting in the terminal in the airport waiting for her plane to begin boarding. She needed to find summer, so this spontaneous trip to D.C. didn't phase her. She pulled her hood over her for head and pulled out her cell phone, not that she was expecting any texts, it just made her look like she was busy so she wouldn't get stuck talking to random people. The overhead speaker told the passengers to begin boarding. Not many people were on this flight, so Ava got a window seat with an empty seat next to her. She put her drawstring bag next to her and popped a piece of gum in her mouth. The plane took off, and before long she was asleep.

The little pickup pulled into Charolette at 7:30 that night. Connors whining persuaded them to stop for food first and then worry about a hotel. They decided on panda express because they could see the sign from where the freeway pulled into the city. Austin ordered for them while Connor took the truck for more gas and Summer used the restroom. She chose a tall table with four seats for them to sit at. Austin and Connor ordered their own food and Summer entrusted them to get hers.
"What drink do you want?" Connor called from across the restaurant.
"Pepsi"
They turned back to the soda fountain and filled their drinks. Austin was grinning as he handed the cup to her. She suspiciously took a drink and was surprised by a mouthful of soy sauce. Her first instinct was to spit it out, but no, she was going to show them how strong she was. She furrowed her brow and drank until the soy sauce was gone, then she opened the cup and pulled the soy sauce packet off of the end of her straw and threw it at Austin. Both of the boys eyes widened and she grabbed a piece of Orange chicken to get the taste out of her mouth. Austin and Connor ate their dinner in silence and when they got in the truck Austin turned to Summer.
"How did you do that? Do you have super powers or something?"
She laughed "well, I can read people's minds."
"Ha ha, yeah, but where was your reaction?"
"Well, the leader should be able to deal with soy sauce."
"Who said you're the leader?"
"Can you drink soy sauce without spitting it out?"
Connor smirked at Austin "She's right."
Austin rolled his eyes and searched for a hotel while Connor and Summer talked. They pulled into the parking lot of a small hotel and checked in. They carried their luggage up the stairs, ironically, Connor was scared of elevators and it took them twice as long as it wouldve because of his limp. The boys shared a bed and Summer got her own. She got in the shower as soon as she threw her duffel on the bed and the boys turned on the t.v. They eventually dozed and Summer took a run down to the vending machine for a snack.
She put a five in and chose a bag of chips and a Snickers bar.
"Ya, that's her, I'm sure." Someone said from behind her. Her heart rose to her throat. No no no! I need to run! How did these people even find me? She thought. They can't recognize me! She tore of her glasses and hid them behind her chips.
The stranger tapped her on the shoulder. Summer spun and tried not to squint to badly, "Do you need something?"
They examined her face "You look like someone I've seen before."
"Oh really?" She forced a laugh "I've never been told that before."
"You really look familiar."
"Oh, I don't know why. I'm not from around here."
"Where are you from then?"
"Louisiana"
His mouth opened "Are you that girl who ran away? Summer Akkesson?"
She blinked before forcing another laugh "no, I'm afraid I'm not, sorry."
"It's okay, sorry"
He turned and she let out a breath of relief.
"Told you!" The guy's friend said loudly "I can't believe you sometimes."
Summer didn't bother to read their thoughts. She speedwalked down the hall and pushed her glasses back on her face. When she got back to the room, the guys were asleep. She changed the t.v. to Disney channel and ate her food before shutting off the lights and going to sleep.¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤
Ava opened the door to get hotel room and plugged the laptop she had brought. They were stopping in Charlotte, which was approximately six hours and thirteen minutes from D.C. She had to wait another six hours before seeing Summer, but it was okay. It would be worth it. Until then, she could get some work done.
