I put my hair up in a ponytail as I talked on da' phone wit one a' my friends.

"Girl, she been tutoring his ass for a couple weeks now." Tonya said. "But real shit, they neva' got along as far as I know. Dey known each other for years and apparently they randomly started havin' a strong dislikin' for each other."

"There gotta be more than just dat." I stressed. "How can nigga's just outta da blue not like each other no more?"

"Maybe it's like a on sight thing like bloods and crips."

"Shut the hell up."

"But listen to this. So I'm on Carter's Instagram right, and she have this picture of her, and her mom. She's a beautiful woman. But anyway, she talking bout how she wishes she was still here and stuff but she know she in a better place now, so obviously she died. Now, the post was posted a couple days before she showed up at the school, so now we know that she lived wit' her mom before she moved down hea'. But then she also had a post of some man and her mom and it said and I quote 'Even though I don't like him, my mom does so happy 8 year anniversary'. That had to be her stepdad-"

"Where the hell are you getting at with this?"

"Bitch, listen got damn!" Tonya said frustratedly. "Why wouldn't they let her stay with her stepdad is the big question. If her dad had to go from Atlanta to Washington and back to Atlanta to get his daughter, something had to have happened. And I remember ma' mama talkin' bout how it's a shame that people kill their partner and how if she were in that ladies shoes when it came to protecting her daughter she'd do the same thing. Now I wasn't really listening, but I had asked what happened cause it was on the news, and she was like this man killed his wife and tried to kill the stepdaughter, and comes to find out he had been abusing the both of them, but he abused the wife more and the reason the wife stayed in the relationship was cause he would've killed the stepdaughter if she called the cops. The wife had called the cops, but he had found out and went crazy-"

"You telling me that the wife was Carter's mom, Carter's the stepdaughter, and the killer was Carter's stepdad?"

"Pretty much. She has an abusive past. AND her dad's part of the FBI, yet he ain't know shit."

I smiled as I thought about how I'd get Carter back. This was just gonna be added to the plan as blackmail.

"And that necklace Carter's always wearing? It was her mom's." Tonya said.

"Thanks girl. I'll call you later."

I hung up the phone and put on some UGG's. I was going over Carter's house later and I figured I'd do some stuff while I was there.

I got in the car and drove to Carter's. It was about a 20 minute drive, without traffic. When I got to her house I rang the doorbell.

"Hi Mr. Mike." I said when he opened the door.

"Carter, your friend is here!" He shouted up the stairs letting me in.

"Okay!" Carter shouted back down.

I headed upstairs and went in Carter's room.

"Wanna go to the mall or something?" I asked since Carter was dressed.
