     I was sitting in my room watchin' The Boondocks when I got a call from Nolen. I actually just missed it, so I picked ma' phone up and was 'bout to call him back, but he sent me a text.

Baeeeee😩😍: Open the door!!! It's too damn hot to be standing out here    -Read 1:56 p.m.

     I ran down the stairs and opened the door. Nolen stood in front of the door, leaning on the railing, sweaty as hell. It really was hot out there.

"No wonder you ain't answer the phone! You got yo tv up so damn loud." Nolen said, sounding like my mom. He went straight to the kitchen to get a water and when he came back he said, "If there was a fire, you wouldn't know cause you wouldn't be able to hear nothin'."

"Okay, I gotcho point, mom." I sarcastically said.

"I ain't yo mama, lil girl." Nolen laughed.

"Gimme some suga'."

"Leave me alone, grandmom."

     I laughed then chased him around the house and even outside. But him being the amazing football player he is, he outran me. He was sitting in my room, on my bed, by the time I got up there. I fell on him, breathing hard. I looked up at him and he wasn't even breathing hard, just sweaty.

"How are you not out of breath?" I asked.

"Cause I do more running than that for my warmup." Nolen said matter of factedly.

     About two hours later, me and Nolen were still in my room, but my parents were home. "So what'd you do after you dropped me off after the date a few days ago?" I asked.

I felt Nolen tense up as he sat up a little. "I had to take Taylor to a play date." Nolen said.

"What'd you do while she was there?" I asked, growing curious as to why he tensed up.

"I stayed at the family's house."

"Were they nice?"

"You met Alexa before, right?"

"Who the heck is Alexa? Lemme find out she some broad!" I shouted sitting up.

"Chill! Carter's younger sister, Alexa." Nolen reassured.

"Oh." I said calming down. "Yeah, that's who Taylor's play date was with?"

"Yeah."

"Carter's stepmom is so nice. I don't really see her dad like that when I go over, cause he's always at work. And her grandmom doesn't really say much to me." Then something came into my mind. "Where was Carter?"

That's when Nolen looked down, then back at me. "I got something to tell you."

"What?"

"So, like I said I stayed at their house during the play date. Carter's grandmom was at church, Ms. Nicole went to work, and their dad was probably at work too, so Carter was the only one home–besides Alexa." Nolen took a breath because he was talking pretty fast. "I had went into Carter's room. Mind you, I did not know Alexa and Carter were sisters, and Ms. Nicole said her stepdaughter was about my age, so I was thinking 'Oh, I'll have a friendly conversation with her' or some shit like that. So when I went into Carter's room, her back was towards me, so I couldn't tell who it was." Nolen paused and looked at me to see what my face looked like. I just had a stale face the whole time. "When she turned around, of course she said something smart, because it's Carter. So after all that we just sat in silence. She was watching tv and I was on my phone." Nolen took a deep breath before continuing. "When the play date was over, Taylor and Alexa wanted us to hug, and when we hugged Taylor coughed and I turned my head cause she got asthma, and when I turned my head Carter's face was right there and we-"
