The bell rang. It was time for lunch. Kids pushed and squirmed through the crowd to get to the cafeteria.
Mike: Come on, El.
He grabbed her hand, which caused some attention. He took her to an empty table. Shortly, Lucas, Will, and Dustin joined in.
Lucas, Will, & Dustin: Hey guys.
Eleven, softly: Hey.
Mike turned to her. His expression was filled with a sense of worry. He knew something was up.
Mike: Hey, El.. something wrong?
Eleven pulled out a eggo and sandwich from her lunchbox.
Eleven: No, I'm fine.
Lucas, Will, and Dustin were suspicious.
Mike: Is it about the others?
Eleven nodded.
Mike: Did you feel — upset?
Eleven nodded.
Mike: Why?
Eleven: I don't fit in..
Mike: What, no, El. You are just like the rest of us!
Lucas: Yeah, don't listen to what they say..
Dustin had a mouthful of pudding, and he could only nod his head.
Will: They are just bullies.
Mike put his arm on Eleven's shoulder. Eleven smiled.
Dustin: Pfft.
Mike let go of her shoulder as Dustin held in a laugh, and grinned.
Mike: What?
Dustin: You guys are in loooove.
Dustin said it in a teasing tone, this irritated Mike.
Mike: Be quiet!
Lucas: They're going to get married.
Will laughed.
Will: I want to be invited.
Lucas & Dustin: Me too.
Eleven was a bit confused. Mike was red like a tomato, like always.
Mike: No we won't! Guys just shut —
He was cut off by the bell. There was two more periods. They passed fast.
