Hermione's POV
Draco freaking Malfoy.
The ferret was the reason they were here.
How dare he act like everything was fine? How dare he sit back, no emotions showing, not helping or doing anything to get them out?
"Ms. Smith?" Flitwick called her.
Hermione started, realizing she had tuned out.
"He's asking about what Accio does," Lily whispered helpfully.
"Singing charm," Hermione answered distractedly.
She heard Draco snort. She whipped around to glare at him. Draco matched her glare with the same intensity.
"That's the easiest spell ever," Draco drawled softly, loud enough for her to hear.
Well, sorry for not being able to focus when I've been thrown back in time with my best friend's dead parents!
"I meant summoning," Hermione corrected quickly. "It's - yeah, summoning."
Flitwick nodded once. "That concludes out lesson - no, don't pack up. The homework is to write an essay about the Summoning Charm's uses. Class dismissed."
Hermione jumped up, shoving everything in her bag in a haste to murder a Malfoy.
"Where are you going?" Lily curiously asked.
Hermione distractedly slung her bag on. "Talking to a ferret."
Lily's eyes widened. "Yeah, okay. I do that too. All the time."
"Hermione!" Sirius blocked her from getting to Draco.
"Sirius." She tried not to break down.
"Care to help us with another scheme to let James' get Lily?" Sirius whispered, his eyes glinting.
Hermione actually paused to consider this. It didn't seem like James and Lily were going anywhere with their relationship, and Harry really needed to be born.
But on the other hand, what if her interference caused Harry not to be born?
Hermione groaned quietly. She needed to punch something. Preferably a Malfoy.
"I'll take that as a yes!" Sirius shook her hand. "Good talk."
He disappeared as quickly as he had come.
Malfoy was watching the entire exchange, bored. As soon as Sirius had left, he got up and started to pack his things.
Hermione's eyes narrowed.
"Draco, we need to talk," Hermione said, sweetly, grabbing Malfoy's arm.
"Do we, Hermione?" Malfoy sneered, with the same emphasis on her name. He yanked her arm away, and wiped his hands. He picked up his bag, walking out.
Hermione, outraged, followed after him.
"You got us into this! You should be contributing to get us out!" Hermione somehow kept her voice to a whisper.
They walked down the hall, attracting stares.
"Me? As I recall, you were the one who started insulting me," Malfoy raised an eyebrow elegantly.
"Let's review." Hermione clenched her fist, and smiled at him. She leaned against a wall.
"You sat next to me first."
"It was a freaking seating chart, G - Smith!"
"Then you drew your wand first!"
"You were being annoying!" He paused and very quietly hissed, "Mudblood!"
