"Hopeless. Bloody hopeless."

"That's because you don't know where to look," Hermione retorted, her arms full of books. "And Draco's too lazy to actually try." She pointed at Draco, who had his head in his arms on the desk, peacefully sleeping.

The trio were in the library, ditching class in favor of saving the world.

"Let me guess, you found everything?" Harry asked.

"Well, I did find quite a lot," Hermione modestly shrugged.

"See, that's why I'm not doing anything," Draco said, lifting his head up from the table. "I knew Mia would find it all."

"Thanks," Hermione sighed, flipping through a small book. "My pile's over there. Try looking at the smaller, shadier books. I find that they have a lot more information."

Harry unenthusiastically paged through a velvet-covered, dark green book. "This is boring."

"You were the one who made me bunk class!" Hermione accused.

"Shh!" Madam Pince scuttled over, her beady eyes glaring right at them. "This is a library."

"Sorry," Hermione distractedly said.

"Why aren't you in class?" Madam Pince suspiciously asked.

"Free period," Hermione replied, just as Harry said, "our teacher sent us to do research for Defense", and Draco sleepily murmured, "bunking class."

"It's a free period... where we're researching Defense... and Draco just said... flunking class. Because - uh, because he's flunking class? And he needs to study, so he's in the library?" Hermione tried to clarify.

Madam Pince glared at them some more before leaving. Hermione heaved a sigh of relief.

"Next time," she warned. "Let me do the talking."

Draco was about to reply when a guy in their year, Cormac McLaggen walked in front of them.

"I thought I might find you here," he grinned, flashing his white teeth.

Draco leaned forward, his posture menacing.

"You know, the Hogsmeade Christmas visit is coming up soon," Cormac smiled.

Draco tensed, and his fist unconsciously balled up.

Hermione wasn't the brightest witch of her age for nothing, and she knew what was coming.

"Really?" She tried to assume a mildly interested air. "I hadn't realized it's already December."

"Would you like to go with me?" Cormac cut straight to the point.

Draco abruptly slammed a book down on the table and got up. "Sorry, she already has a date."

"She does?" Cormac asked.

"I do?" Hermione echoed.

"Yes," Draco silkily said. "So I'd suggest if you're done here... "

Cormac glanced at the trio, then, evidently getting the hint, stumbled away.

"I have a date, I suppose," Hermione teased him. "Who is it?"

"Your boyfriend," Draco smirked.

"And who is that? I wasn't aware I had one," she grinned.

"Me," he airily said. "The same person you've been dating since the second time period's end."

"So," Hermione mused. "When I kissed that Muggle Thomas, then I technically was cheating, because I had a boyfriend?"
