Draco's POV

He was beginning to think something was wrong. The only thing that had ever been out of place was when James and Lily Potter had tried to convince them that there was war.

Ha. That was a good joke.

Come to think of it, James always was a jokester. Added to the fact that it was never brought up again, it was most definitely a joke.

Right?

Right.

Call him 5 years too late, but in all these five years, he had never seen the teachers acting so touchy.

Maybe it was the day, October 31st. Usually he was completely immersed in planning Halloween pranks. But today, Harry decided he would ditch them in favor of Ronald Weasley.

It was a source of argument for the trio for a long time; since 4th year.

Flashback

Draco, Hermione, and Harry mounted their brooms. Harry was the seeker on the Gryffindor team, and Draco was a Chaser. Hermione was okay on a broom, but was firmly against being on the team.

Ever since 2nd year, when they had both made it on the team, it had become a tradition to go out on their brooms every Friday.

Hermione was always in the middle, so that if she fell, one of them could catch her. She insisted that she wouldn't fall, but since she had fallen twice before, Harry and Draco came to a silent agreement that they would fly on either side of her.

On this particular cold day, Ronald Weasley was flying as well with his shy friend, Neville Longbottom.

Hermione had often suggested befriending the small, quiet boy, but Ron was always in front of him, dissuading him from any contact with Draco.

Harry nodded at Ron as they flew closer to him. "Ron."

"The famous Harry Potter!" Ron said, flying next to him. He seemed to have grown nicer over the years.

Hermione awkwardly nodded at him. Now that she thought about it, punching Ron was a bit too harsh. She could barely look him in the eye without remembering that incident.

"Hermione," Ron said, his tone slightly forced.

Draco raised an eyebrow at him.

"Psycho. Why don't you run back and let your mommy fix you a snack? Stop polluting this school." Ron hissed.

Draco snorted, keeping his eyes trained ahead.

"Hey! Take that back, right now!" Hermione flew in front of him, causing all of them to stop.

"Hermione," Draco hissed. "Don't waste your breath on him."

"I'm sorry, are you actually talking to me?" Ron sneered, any civility towards Hermione gone.

"Yes, I am. I want to know what gives you the right to pick on my friend? You're a rude boy who picks on others to make him feel better about himself, a future gas station attendant." Hermione's teeth were clenched.

There was a pause.

"What's a gas station attendant?"

End

But after that, Harry started to walk with him to class. When asked why, he simply shrugged, saying that he probably was a good person when you got to know him.
