Draco's POV
The Polyjuice Potion had to be without a doubt the weirdest potion Draco had ever encountered.
He could feel his limbs elongating and his hair shrinking, but it didn't hurt at all. It was almost like he was on the outside looking at his body as it slowly became a twenty-eight year old guy.
He had brown hair and blue eyes, and was about Draco's height. Then he turned around and saw Hermione, who had turned into a short, Asian lady with short, black hair.
Hermione-Christine grinned at him. "Hey," she said. Her voice was higher than usual.
Draco felt in his pocket, searching for some identification. He only found many candy wrappers, and a phone number from someone named Rich.
"I'll just call you honey," Hermione-Christine laughed, her eyes sparkling. "This is fun!"
Draco rolled his eyes, and tried out his new voice. "Fun, sure." It was deeper than his original voice.
"Come on, we'll just say I forgot my wallet or something," Hermione gestured towards the Ministry building.
"Don't forget to act like a couple," Draco winked at her.
Hermione giggled again and grabbed his hand. "I love you so much, baby!" She squealed.
"No, honey-bunches, you're the essence of my life!" Draco imitated back.
The managed to get all the way into the Ministry without attracting attention.
But once they were inside, it was a different story.
Everyone who rushed past them were quiet, and inside the grand entrance hall, their voices echoed and people looked at them in askance.
Draco leaned over and whispered, "Maybe we should stop talking."
Hermione nodded. "We can still play our part, though."
Before Draco could ask what she meant, they were kissing. He knew that a few of the officials were glaring at them in annoyance, but he couldn't care less.
It lasted until a grim blonde rushed up to them.
"Jake and Christine?" She asked in a disbelieving voice.
Hermione yelped and arranged her features in a smile. "That's me!"
Jake, Draco thought. So that was my name.
It made Draco almost nostalgic, to think of having an American name. He and Mia had had that once, with their surnames, when they were transported into the Marauder's era.
The girl surveyed them with distrust. "So you've fixed your relationship problems?"
Hermione stiffened. "What?"
The girl waved a hand dismissively through the air. "You know, the fighting. Jake being bi, and in touch with another guy?"
Draco tried not to laugh. This Jake character really wasn't the nicest guy. "We're going through a phase," he tried to explain vaguely.
"O - M - G Chlo, that happens a lot, remember?" Hermione was pretty good at convincing people to believe a lie.
"My name's Brooke," the blonde who now had a name frowned.
"Yeah, but remember that inside joke we had?" Hermione asked, shaking her head when Brooke said no.
"Um," Brooke stammered. "It's late, I'm going to go."
