Hermione's POV

All through Charms, then Potions, then everything else, Harry was fidgeting.

Draco was calm and impassive, but Hermione knew it he was also impatient.

Once they broke up to go to dinner, Harry dragged them to the common room.

"So... " he started, looking expectantly at them.

"Yes?" Draco raised an eyebrow.

"How are we going to 'save the world'?" Harry asked, emphasizing his words.

"Right," Hermione took charge. "Um, what if we reveal what we know to Dumbledore?"

"The teachers already know," Draco cut in.

"What?" Harry sat down on the couch.

Hermione followed his example. "Umbridge is wiping our memories, and altering them. The teachers need some explanation. Maybe not the full one, but they know something."

"Why don't we test that theory out?" Draco suggested. "Find a teacher, ask them about this, then wipe their memories?"

"Draco!" Hermione admonished.

"Getting my memories back has only made me remember my dark side, Mia," Draco resignedly told them.

"You're not Dark, Dra - " Hermione tried to protest.

"I am," Draco cut her off. "I don't want to be, but I was raised that way. I can Obliviate them."

"What if they don't answer our questions?" Hermione challenged him.

"Imperio. Veritaserum," Draco shrugged, running his hand through his hair.

"What happened?" Hermione suddenly whispered.

Draco looked sharply up. "What?"

"Something happened," Hermione said, decidedly. "You were fine yesterday. What happened?"

Draco shifted, then muttered something under his breath. "Harry and I got into a fight."

"No, we didn't - " Harry started to protest, before Draco cut him off.

"Draco! Tell us the truth," Hermione took his hand. "We had owl post yesterday. Was it something from your mother?"

Draco let out a quiet, disbelieving laugh. "We don't call you the smartest witch in our year for nothing, huh?"

Hermione frowned. "You're deflecting it."

"I did get a letter from my mother," Draco mumbled.

"And?" Hermione prompted, gently.

"He's coming back," Draco looked up with a sudden rush of emotion. "He's coming back."

"Who?" Hermione softly asked.

"My father," Draco spat out.

Hermione immediately let go of his hand, her face shocked.

"But he got a life sentence, right?" Harry asked, his eyes reflecting their worry. "He can't - "

"He's influential," Draco said, his voice barely a whisper. "He's wealthy. He got a retrial, somehow."

"But his memories aren't wiped," Hermione said slowly. "He would still have the mentality that Muggleborns are inferior."

"You think he's going to start killing them," Harry completed their thought.
