In the Future

In Hogwarts, everybody was being prepped in case of a surprise attack.

Their weapon, Hermione and Draco, was still unknown, but no one knew how much time it would take for Voldermort to piece together why the Golden Girl and Junior Death Eater were gone without a trace, and with Lucius and Narcissa knowing about the real situation, it wouldn't be long.

But without any way to destroy Horcruxes, they had no idea how to defeat Voldermort. And to make it worse, Draco and Hermione had no clue what they had to do. They didn't even know the Horcruxes were unaccessible.

The fact that even Harry Potter didn't know what to do was unsettling, as everyone always viewed him as a leader.

Without Hermione, he didn't even know where to begin.

Harry's POV

Harry couldn't believe what his best friend had to do. It was outrageous! Even worse than when he found out he would die at the end of all this - well, that was pretty outrageous, too.

Thankfully, the blood magic on Horcruxes stopped that from happening.

He had always seen Dumbledore as everyone else; one of the most powerful men in the world, that even Voldermort was scared of.

But now...

Now he saw him more of an old man, doing all he could do keep peace and win a hopeless war.  But no one else knew that it was hopeless. People kept swarming Harry, trying to get his opinion, his strategy, his thoughts.

But he didn't have an opinion or thoughts, and he definitely did not have a strategy.

Nothing was going right.

Ginny's POV

Ginny was terrified for Hermione. Not only because of how rude Malfoy was, he was also a Death Eater. What if he turned on her? But there was nothing they could do, except hope for the best.

So, she focused on other things.

Small things.

Selfish things.

Harry still hadn't asked her to be his girlfriend. She knew everyone already viewed them as an item, but he never had made it official. Sure, they hugged once in a while, maybe a few kisses on the cheek, but...

How stupid for her to be thinking of that while Hermione risked her life in an unknown place.

It took years and years of her dropping hints at Harry for him to even notice her as more than Ron's little sister. She knew he liked her, but never, never, had he done anything about it. Was she reading into it wrong?

Also, he probably was focused on Hermione.

It was always someone else, wasn't it? She loved the way he always wanted to do what was best. Of course she did! But there was never time for her, with his overpacked schedule of saving the world.

She started to jog down to the Quidditch pitch. The world wasn't in danger when she was flying. Her friends always didn't need to be saved up there.

Gripping her broom tightly, she swung her leg upon the broom and urged it upwards. She flew faster and faster, wind whipping in her face and her eyes tearing up. She could hardly see anything.

With a jolt, Ginny realized she wasn't the only one there.

Oh great, she thought. The object of my affections and frustration.

Mostly frustration.

She stopped right next to him, a sassy comment ready.

But she never got to say it, because Harry had that adorable, confused smile on his face - and instead of screaming at him, Ginny kissed him.

No, she wasn't thinking; but all of a sudden, Ginny didn't feel so frustrated anymore.

She could feel all of her worries float away as Harry kissed back, two figures flying close together, just two black dots in the sky.

But one worry remained. They had to find their friend.

And fast, or Hermione might be forever lost in time.
