 Lily's POV

"Remus! Found anything?" Lily asked, meeting her partner in crime in a deserted hallway.

Yes, Lily Evans had a partner in crime.

She had thought Hermione was her friend. But she had lied. Maybe it seemed like she was overreacting, but she didn't have the best history with friends. Sure, Marlene and Alice were wonderful, but Hermione seemed to know her so well. And

And she was hiding something. She was as bad as Severus, and Lily knew she had to figure out what was going on with her before she got too attached.

"Not yet, but they certainly are suspicious. I saw them run up to the 7th floor - you know, the Room Of Requirement? That's the only thing worth seeing there - they must be up to something," Remus reported.

"Alright, make sure you keep an eye on them!" Lily ordered.

"Yes, ma'am," Remus saluted, grinning.

Lily laughed, then by impulse, she hugged Remus.

"Thank you so much for doing this with me. It really means a lot. Especially when the rest trust them so much," she whispered, smiling.

She looked up at him, blushing as she realized their faces were extremely close. Remus evidently realized this too, because they pulled away.

But it was too late. The two had met in a deserted hallway. And it just happened to be that that was the hallway James was bringing his two week anniversary bouquet for his very own girlfriend - Lily freaking Evans.

"Lil?" She heard a voice call. "Wha - what?"

"James! What are you doing here?" Lily asked, stepping back from Remus even more.

"Remus?" James stared uncomprehendingly at one of his best friends.

With his girlfriend.

In an abandoned hallway.

"I'm just meeting Remus about some homework assignments," Lily lied easily.

They had agreed to keep this a secret so that the others wouldn't tell Hermione and Draco about their spying. The others trusted them.

"It's alright, Lily. I understand." James said.

"Yeah, we're just studying." Lily was relieved that he didn't question it further.

They'd only been dating for two weeks, but it felt like so much more, maybe because James had been trying to get her for most of five years, ever since 1st or 2nd year, basically.  And she had liked him for three of them. She realized this after Snape... lack of better word, dumped her.

Lily Evans liked James Potter.

She had found the courage to admit that two weeks back, and she sincerely hoped this wasn't blowing up in her face.

She wouldn't lose him.

*Flashback*

Slughorn had paired up James and Lily, hoping she would rub off on him in their 6th year.

"Lily Flower!" James cried, looking triumphantly at Sirius.

"James." Lily acknowledged curtly. She had always been grateful that she wasn't one of those girls who lost their mind and couldn't talk when their crushes were near. She wouldn't admit that she liked him. It was too embarrassing to tell him after years she liked him.

So she kept quiet.

"So, Amortenia. Love potion?" James leaned over her shoulder, staring at the recipe.
