Fallin' For Her

Chapter 20.

Hope's POV
I didn't sleep well last night. Lex was on my mind. It was 7 and decided to go for a walk. I got up from the bed and threw on sweatpants and an oversized jumper to be comfy. I wrote Kel a note about what I was doing and that I'd see her at breakfast. I walked out of the room and took the elevator down to the lobby. I got out and saw Ash sitting on a couch. I walked over to her.
"Sup Ash?"
"Nothing really just couldn't sleep."
"Same here. I'm about to go for a walk. Want to come?"
"Yeah sure."
"Aight then lets go." She stood up and we walked out. There was a field not far from here so we walked over there. There was no one there so we walked over to the stands and sat down. We sat in silence until I spoke.
"Why do you think Lex is having a hard time here, with me?"
"Hope she just met you last week. She hardly knows you and you hardly know her. She's also just after leaving her parents of 9 years. She'll open up eventually and when she does you need to be there. No matter what time, day or night, you got to be there for her. We have the day off today. Have a mother daughter day and get to know each other."
"Thanks Ash. I'm going to do that actually. Cmon we better head back before they're wondering where we are." We got up and left for the hotel. When we got back everyone was up having breakfast. Except for Carli and Lex. I didn't know where they were. I didn't think much of it during breakfast because I was getting help from the girls on what to do with Lex for the day. We settled on going shopping for clothes and stuff for her room. After breakfast was finished Carli and Lex still haven't arrived. I called Carli but it went straight to voicemail. I decided to walk there seeing as it wasn't so far. It only took 5 minutes. I walked up to the door and knocked. Carli answered it.
"Why didn't you answer my call?"
"Sorry I was in the shower. Brian is still asleep and so is Lex."
"Okay. I'm taking her out for a mother daughter bonding day so I can get to know her better and bring her to the new house."
"She's going to like that. She's in the guest room. Go wake her up and I'll get breakfast ready." She moved out of the way and I walked in and shut the door behind me. I made my way to the guest room and met Brian in the hall.
"Morning Solo."
"Morning B."
I walked into the room and saw Lex asleep. She looked so peaceful and I smiled at the sight. I went over and get in under the covers next to her. She groaned and I laughed while putting a loose strand of hair behind her ear. She moved closer into me and I kissed her head.
"Morning princess."
"Morning Mom. What are you doing here?"
"To collect you. We're going shopping and I have a surprise to show you afterwards. Cmon get up. Car has breakfast made and we'll leave after. Oh and pack a bag because you're staying in the hotel with us tonight for the team bonding."
"Okay I love you mom."
"I love you too kiddo." I got up and left the room so she could change. I walked into the kitchen and Car was sitting at the table with coffee and reading the paper and Brian was making breakfast. I sat down at the other end of the table and Brian handed me a mug of coffee and I thanked him. I pulled out my phone and scrolled through my social media. They were all asking who Lex was and why my teammates were calling her niece. The usual. Lex walked in a couple of minutes later fully dressed in sweatpants and a jersey. She dropped her bag by the table and came up and kissed my cheek. She did the same for Car and then hugged Brian.
"Morning kid. How did you sleep?"
"Morning Brian. Good. Great actually."
"That's good. Cmon and eat breakfast and then you can go with your mom."
"Thanks." She took her plate and came and sat down next to me. She finished it quickly and put her plate in the dishwasher.
"Cmon so mom." She said.
"Alrighty then. Thanks so much Car for that. We'll see you tonight at team bonding?" I asked.
"Yeah no bother. Yeah I'll see you tonight. Be good for your mom kid and I'll see you tonight." Car said standing up. She went over and hugged Lex.
"Bye Car. Bye Brian." Lex said going up to hug Brian.
"Bye kid see you tomorrow." He replied. With that we walked back to the hotel. Ash was sitting in the lobby next to Ali when we walked in. Lex ran up to them and jumped onto Ali's lap. I smiled at them and went up to the room to get my stuff.
