Caught.

  Cory's POV

I walked into the family room.

"Oh my gosh." I whispered.

I saw Josh kissing some blonde girl. She looked kinda familiar.

"JOSH! WHAT ARE YOU DOING? Wait... MAYA?!" I yelled.

Josh immediately stopped and realized I was gonna freak out on the two of them, so he instinctively tugged Maya in behind himself. She peered around his shoulder with a worried look on her face. I saw her put one hand in his hip, the other on his shoulder.

"It- it's not what it looks like!" Josh stuttered.

"Really? 'Cause it looks like my baby brother is makin' out with his niece's best friend who I treat like a daughter!" I freaked out on him.

"Oh. Then it's exactly what it looks like." Josh looked at the floor.

Maya moved her hands to one of his arms and clutched it, then looked at the floor, too. A hush fell over the room, but then Maya looked up with fire in her eyes.

"WHY IS THIS SO WRONG?! Why? I like Josh, he likes me! So he's a little older. Does it matter?" Maya asked.

"It's not just the age, Maya, even though that's my main reason. He's my little brother, you're my daughter's best friend, he's her uncle." I explained.

"Cory why can't you just leave us alone?? Come on Maya. Let's go." Josh grabbed Maya's hand and they left.

"WAIT! DON'T YOU DARE LEAVE!" I yelled. They looked back with a bit of regret, but then kept going. From that look, I knew they had no place to go, nothing to do, no money, no one to support them, nothing.

They quietly disappeared out the door.

Josh's POV

We left the building and headed up the street.

"Josh, where are we going?" Maya asked. She sounded a bit worried. Suddenly, I felt bad for dragging her into this. Why am I so stupid?! I have to watch out for her! If anything happens to her, I'm the adult, and I have to be responsible. Luckily, I have a plan.

"A hotel. I know of a hotel close to here. I can't take it! Cory just can't leave anything alone!" I said. "Oh, and my buddy is the manager of the hotel. If I don't have enough money, he can get us in."

"Okay, and then when are we going to go back? I have school, you know. And we didn't bring spare clothes!" Maya reminded me.

I pondered the thought for a minute. "We'll sneak in when they're gone and grab a few things."

"Okay. Let's do it!" Maya laughed and grabbed my arm. We ran to the hotel.

"Hi. Can I speak to the manager?" I asked the girl at the front desk.

"Of course, Sir." She replied politely.

We went to the office in the back.

"Josh?" Asked the manager.

"Hey! Carlos! My buddy! How're you?" I asked.

"Good! Thanks. Who's the gorgeous blonde?" Carlos asked.

"She's my girlfriend, Maya." I glared at him. Only I can call her gorgeous." I half-joked. "We need a favor. Maya is my niece's best friend, and she's like a daughter to my older brother. He caught us in the middle of... Something and he got mad. Maya and I ran away." I explained.

"Ohh, and you have no place to stay, and you want to stay here! Of course, Josh, I remember I owe you one, so here's a key. Have fun. BUT NOT TOO MUCH!" He said looking at Maya, who blushed profusely. Okay, buddy, only I get to make her blush.

"Thanks Carlos." I said and we left to go to our room.

Maya's POV

"So what now? We have nothing too do and nowhere else to go!" I said.

"We have each other." Josh said and kissed me softly.

"Love you." I said to Josh.

"I love you, too." Josh said back.

He started kissing me. And Cory wasn't there to stop us from doing anything.
