First Day

*Josh and Simon are married and adopted Vik when he was born. Vik is 5 and it is the first day of 1st grade*

Third POV
Simon had been regretting this day ever since Vik had turned 5 years old. Today was the first day of first grade. Vik of course was excited but Simon didn't want to lose his little boy. Sure, Simon was happy that he could return to work, but something didn't seem right, not spending the day with him.

"What if he needs me?"

"Simon, you need to let go. It is just first grade."

"He is just growing up too fast."

"I know, but no matter what, he is our Vik."

"I'm ready!" Vik came running into the living room where Josh and Simon were siting. Simon smiled, grabbing his keys and stood up.

"See you when you get home." Josh stood up and kissed Simon goodbye.

"We're going to be late!"

"I'm coming Vik." Simon followed Vik out to the car, getting into the car fast. He backed out the driveway and he turned on the radio. Vik started singing along to any song that came on and Simon smiled.

They arrived in front of Lachlans house and Lachlan came running over and hopped in the back next to Vik. Simon watched Vik smile brightly when Lachlan hoped in. Simon waved to Rob and he pulled away, taking the boys to school, then heading to work.

~time skip~

Work had gone better than expected for Simon. He didn't feel weird about going back after a few years. When he left, he felt like he never left the company.

As Simon reached the school, he saw. Vik and Lachlan holding hands, walking out the school. They saw Simons car and they both ran over, not letting go of each other. They both jumped in and they looked excited.

"Were in the same class!"

"Really? That's great! Who do you have?"

"Mrs Jones. To introduce the..."

Vik continued his story how the first day went. Simon listened intently, happy to be seeing him.

They reached Lachlans house and Lachlan unbuckled his seat, a frown taking over his face.

"Lachlan?" He turned slightly and Simon saw the sadness in his eyes. "What's wrong?"

"I wanted to spend the night with Vik but daddy said no." Lachlan turned back to the door and exited the car. He walked around the back of the car and hugged Rob. Simon put down the window and he spoke with happiness in his voice.

"Maybe you can come over Friday and stay all weekend."

Lachlan's eyes lite up and Rob smiled. "Of course you can."

Lachlan jumped around and Simon put up the window. He started to pull away and saw Vik waving at Lachlan.
