I stood there in shock. Lorenzo? The same guy who's neck had gotten snapped by Luca a week ago. The man was dead, or at least I thought he was.
It wasn't just me who was shocked. Luca had gripped Hayes by the collar."Don't kill the messenger!" Hayes said.
Luca loosened his grip. Hayes fell to the ground. I ran in front of Luca.
"What the-"
"Shit" Luca said
He was onto me faster than I could protest. His muscular arms had gripped me by the shoulders, pushed me forward and thrown me into the car. I landed sideways on the padded seats.
"Get in the car" he says forcefully
Both Hayes and Mitchell scamper forward. Mitchell's first to reach the car. Bags in hand. Luca opens the trunk of the car, and Mitchell takes it as a cue to shove the bags in.
All while this is happening, I'm very aware that there's a body right next to me. Lorenzo.
It takes every piece of will not to scream, and the smell that was coming from him really wasn't pleasant.
I took the time to distance myself from Lorenzo. I was pushed against the window. Meanwhile Mitch had hopped in to the backseat.
Now Mitch doesn't have much experience with bodies. That was extremely obvious with the sound of his massive half wretch half scream of abject terror. I turned to face Mitch."Just don't ask any questions" I said, Mitch looked queasy. "and don't throw up"
Mitch shot me a look of disdain. I shrugged in response.
Mitch and I's shirt interaction was interrupted by the sound of a car engine starting. Luca and Hayes slammed their doors almost simultaneously we were speeding out of my driveway.
I stared outside of the window, watching the trees pass. The foliage was a parade of oranges and reds, not a sliver of green in sight. It was late afternoon, and there was a certain laziness to the day. Joggers and dog walkers ran past. There were few cars on the road.
Which was the reason why Luca was breaking every speed limit known to man. Thank god he was a good driver, or we would've all been in serious trouble. I perched forward on my seat.
"Slow down!" I screeched
Luca retaliated with the appropriate response.
The sound of the engines revving up shot through my ears. If the guy wasn't a werewolfy, he could have had a pretty decent career in NASCAR. We were soon off the main road and onto the dirt path which we'd taken to get to my suburban neighborhood.
The car rocked backwards and forwards on the rocky pathway, throwing Lorenzo, Mitch and I backwards and forwards. It was pretty gross, especially considering Lorenzo was dead. My stomach was doing flip flops and I felt the skin tingling sensation that queasiness created. I could feel the G force pushing me against the door of the car.
Luca didn't slow down.

We got back to Luca's pack grounds in about half an hour, and surprisingly Luca hadn't gotten a speeding ticket. It was a pretty amazing feet. Unbeknownst to me there was a former railway tunnel which ran near the camp. The tunnel was near the main road, so we'd slipped in. The tunnel was where the pack kept any cars they may have, as Hayes hastily explained to me whilst trying to extract a dead body from the backseat of a sports car.
