Imogen was on the road. She didn't even say good by. She couldn't even begin to. She was leaving countless amounts of people behind. She was leaving the one who mattered the most behind.
Felix
Her own newborn child. Her precious one. She felt guilt from the first moment she held him in her arms. However Imogen knew she still had to do this. She had to leave.
She wasn't ready to be a mother, she wasn't ready for the responsibility. What she was ready to do was live.
This was her only opportunity.
The closer she got to the airport the more her heart was being ripped into pieces. The more she wanted to turn the car around.
She could almost hear Hayes's disappointed voice, asking her why she was doing this. It was something Hayes would never understand. Imogen wanted more. She knew there was more out there.
She also knew that Hayes would stop her. Luca would try as well, however Luca would understand. After all, having children ruined his mother's life. However, Imogen knew that the circumstances were completely different. Luca's father was an asshole, Felix's father on the other hand was brave and good.
She knew that she was going to destroy him.
Imogen hoped that one day he would forgive her.
Then again, she knew he wasn't obligated to.
Imogen reverted her eyes back to the road. She was getting closer to her destination. She had been driving for hours.
All she had brought with her was a minuscule bag. The only things inside were her tickets, travel documents, her money and one change of clothes. She knew that Hayes would get suspicious if she brought a large bag along. She wanted to slip out, silently into the night.
Besides, she could just buy everything when she got out there. She had her card after all.
She had the workings of a plan in her head. She was going to go out there and get a simple job, something which could sustain her for a year or so. Then she would contact Francesca, and do some work in Zurich. Imogen always had an interest in history, plus Francesca knew that Imogen would be a useful asset.
Imogen gripped the wheel tighter. She needed to focus on the road. This wasn't going to be easy. One wrong turn due to her mind wandering could end badly.
She stared out at the road before her. It was virtually empty. Not many people were out this early in the morning.
That's when she could hear a soft buzz. The sound of her phone.
She didn't even have to look at the display screen to know who it was.
She at least owed him some kind of an explanation.

"Here" Luca said "Let me take him"
Hayes stared up at him wearily. They had been sitting on the porch of Luca's cabin. Drinking beers together. They used to do it all of the time. They hadn't been doing it much.
It was a great stress reliever.
Usually it was just Luca and Hayes, however this time they were joined by a third party.
