I didn't wake up alone.
My eyes fluttered open to see Luca's blue ones. With the light shining in they seemed almost white. I smiled weakly, as I was too tired to flash my pearly whites.
He was also tired, his eyes seemed to be slightly glassy and unfocused. He wasn't returning my gaze, he seemed to be more focused on my hair. Now that I came to think of it. He seemed to really like my hair. The other day he had been playing with it.
"You can touch it you know" I said, my voice was scratchy, partially from yelling at him partially from yelling because of him.
He paused for a moment, my voice slowly registering in his ears. He lifted up his arm, momentarily blocking the sun from his face. His arm cast a shadow across his face, restoring the color of his eyes to its usual electric blue.
He ran his hands through my hair, softly, as if he was brushing it out. No wait. He was brushing it out. I could feel his hair working through the knots in my hair. Pulling out the tangles.
Of course, he wasn't focused on my hair. He was a neat freak.
I smiled at my own private little joke.
"You seem awfully happy?" Luca said, "I didn't have you pegged as a morning person?"
"You're funnier when your not trying" I said matter o-factly.
He stopped playing with my hair and sat up, pushing his back against the headboard. He crossed his arms against his chest and gave me a playful glare. I hoped it was playful, I wasn't a big fan of upsetting. Especially considering that the last time he was made at me he ended up pinning me to the ground and ranting about how insolent I was.
Well, the whole being pinned to the ground thing wasn't that bad.
I shifted over, moving myself onto his lap. I rested my chin on his chest and stared up at him with wide eyes which were so large that they made the moon envious.
"What are you doing today?" I said
I was genuinely intrigued, I knew surprisingly little about what he did during the day. I knew that he had incredibly long briefings. I also knew that he trained quite often, our training sessions never overlapped and Claude had told me that Luca spent his time sparring anyway. After all of that he tended to spend his time reading.
"Nothing" he said "I've got the day off"
"Lucky" I replied "I'm training with Claude"
He unfolded his arms, one hand began running through my hair once again.
"You don't have to go" he said "Not if you don't want to, after all you are my mate and I happen to be the Alpha of this pack"
I shook my head.
"I need to train" I said "When Max attacked me, I thought I was going to die...i can't...I-I can't ever feel like that again"
I needed to be able to defend myself. I was sick of being a damsel in distress. Considering that I hadn't been raised in a pack I had a hell of catching up to do. I remember the feeling of my heart pounding when I first saw Max. It wasn't a good feeling. What was even worse was the feeling of giving up. When I was laying in the snow, part of me accepted that I was going to die, right there and then. I hated that part of me. At the end of the day I had one real goal, I wanted to give Max Lim a taste of his own medicine.
"I'm going to take a shower" Luca said "Get off"
Before I could respond, he pushed me to the side, rolling me onto my back. He hopped off of the bed, and stretched his arms. I sat up quickly.
