The door opened and I was face to face with a pissed off Alpha. His arms were crossed and his black gloved fingers were folded under his elbows. He donned a thick black woolly coat, which most likely meant he'd been up in the mountains, where it was cold in the fall. His electric blue eyes scanned me up and down. I crossed my arms across my chest, his gaze was having an effect on me, as the gaze of most Alpha's do.
He gestured for me to enter, I stepped over the threshold into the living room of the cabin.
"Where have you been?" he said
I didn't answer, he arched an eyebrow.
"So you've been to the tree" he said "I can smell it on you"
He rolled his eyes, visibly unimpressed.
"Take a seat" he said with an audible sigh.
I sat down on the couch. He began pacing back and forward in front of me with his hand placed on his chin. He stopped abruptly, which was a shame, I was really enjoying watching him waste my time.
"Tonight" he began "Is the first quarter moon of fall"
"And as a tradition" He continued "On the first quarter moon of every season, a gala is thrown for all of the Alpha's in the region"
Luca took a deep breath.
"Tonight you will attend with me and I will announce you as my mate, and the Luna of this pack"
"No way!" I protested.
Luca needed to slow down, he could at least buy me a drink before he tried to make every alpha in the region know that I was his Luna, and even if he didn't buy me a drink he could at least be a decent person before, he paraded me around at a stupid ball.
He cocked an eyebrow.
"I believe that you would be a bit more inclined to come if I presented you with an offer" He said
"Pitch it" I said
"If you agree to attend the gala tonight, I will find your family and bring them to you" he said
My face paled, this was unusual. An offer? Most Alpha's I'd heard of didn't offer deals. It was do or die. Still I was cautious about it, this ball meant something to him, especially if he was willing to make a deal.
"I could just touch you and you'd be on your knees, Gala's involve dancing, with other people, I don't think its a good idea"
He gave a flicker of a smirk, "I've already got that sorted out"
I narrowed my eyes. This seemed too sketchy, but then again. I missed my family, they were probably so worried, this was probably a one time offer. I bit my lip.
"Fine" I said.
Luca nodded.
"I thought that would be your answer" he said "Which is why I got you some attire to wear"
He pointed to a door next to the bookcase. "Its in there, I'll be back in a few hours, you will be ready to leave when I return"
I rolled my eyes. I wasn't an idiot. I got the message.
With that he made his exit.
I opened the door and walked inside the room. It was plain, with a white twin sized bed. A plain mirror was on the wall. On the bed lay a long white box, which was sealed by an elastic gold band wrapped around it. I placed my hands on the edges of the box, examining it as if it were a weapon. I ran my hand over it, not expecting what I would find if I opened it. I bit my lip and took off the gold elastic, throwing it to the side. Slowly, I removed the lid of the box.
