There's no secret that it's hot. As a matter of fact, the word hot would be an oversimplification. It honestly feels like I'm taking a walk on the sun.
This of course, isn't good.
What's worse is that Brielle Nielsen is staring at me from across the street in shock.
Well, what do you do when a girl which you've known for quite some time is rolling a baby down the street which, on the outside, looks like her child.
It wasn't my fault that today was Luca and I's day to take Felix, it also wasn't my fault that Felix couldn't stay around the camp all of the time.
Okay, maybe that one was my fault.
I'd been the one to suggest that Felix have more time away from the camp full of werewolves. So every Saturday, Luca and I's day, we would take him somewhere.
I'd grown accustomed to the strange looks which I was given. I'd ran into many family friends, all of which had been far too quick to judge. I'd seen Jamie Lourdes, my brothers ex-best friend. He'd been pretty shocked. So shocked that he called the house the next day asking to speak to Mitch. The two hadn't spoken in at least five years. What made it worse was that I was with Luca at the time, who had made the situation much worse.
Surprisingly, I'd also seen Brody, who apologized for asking me out, as "He didn't know that I had a baby".
I didn't bother to correct him. I thought it was a little bit douchey to believe that the main reason that a girl would turn you down was because she had a baby.
Felix was feeling the heat as well. He was all decked out in his little baby shades, with a giant floppy hat and a pair of overalls to top it off. He was cooing at every little thing he could see, whether it was a butterfly or a tree. He was even cooing at the cars.
I leaned over the handlebars of the stroller, making sure he was okay. Felix was a bit of a drooler, half of the time he was covered in it.
Brielle was still staring, I could feel her gaze.
I might as well have had three heads.
I spun around, my sundress whipping around with me. The blue gingham swung as I moved, brushing against the backs of my knees.
I waved at her, a warm smile was painted across my face. Though the smile was slightly fake, I still was able to pull it off.
Brielle was taken aback. For a moment, her bright eyes were as wide as plates. She readdressed her shock with a pleasant smile.
"Melody!" She called out, she waved her hand at me, signaling for me to cross over.
I stared down at Felix, realizing how...interesting this situation might've looked.
Nevertheless, I made my way across the street to the Neilson house.
I pushed the stroller onto the concrete driveway of the house. Brielle stood, she was about to sit down on her lawn furniture by the looks of it.
I was sure that the sight of me with a baby had distracted her from doing that.
She stared at me, sizing me up. I figured that it wad fair of her to do. I was her neighbor that had gone awol for a long time. She'd probably thought I was dead or something.
Despite the fact that I'd been spending a hell of a lot of time back home, I honestly hadn't managed to run into her. She was always so busy, heading off to work.
I would see her every morning, hopping into her car to take the boys to school, then to summer camp.
"You look great!" Brielle said, she smiled warmly at me. Far too warmly. I felt as if I was going to gag.
