Joe had offered me s glass of champagne which I had downed quickly. I thought that It would be rude to decline. I politely excused myself when the men began reminiscing on Luca's father. That was a conversation I would rather not have. I gripped one more glass of champagne, as Joe insisted I did. Then I walked off quietly.

I sauntered over to the other side of the room shrinking into the shadows. I couldn't help but feel something gathering in the pit of my stomach. I placed my hand onto a cabinet. My stomach was doing cartwheels, and I didn't like it. Not one bit. My hand gripped the dark wood, my nails must have been engraving marks into the ebony wood.

I felt a hand on the small of my back. I lifted my head slightly. Luca was staring back at me, incredibly concerned.

"Are you alright?" Luca said

I shot him a perky smile, there was no need to worry him about anything.

"I'm fine" I said "There's just...a lot of people here, I'm a tad bit nervous"

Luca furrowed his brow, he obviously didn't believe me. He let it go, which was shocking.

I took a sip of champagne, the sparkling gold fell right down my throat smoothly.

Luca crosses his arms, he was obviously annoyed. Annoyed by the fact that I was closing my self off and disguising how I truly felt.

Wow, didn't that sound familiar.

"At least take a seat" he said "You can say if you feel sick. You know, I'm not going to be upset"

I shook my head. He would be upset if I said how I really felt.

It wasn't really a "feeling" per say, it was edging on an accusation.

I could be wrong about something being off. Maybe it was just my imagination playing tricks on me. If I said anything to Luca the chances were that he would blow a fuse, at who I wasn't quite sure.

I smiled sheepishly, turning away.

I searched for Andrea in the crowd, she was engaged in light conversation with a tall man. I couldn't see his face, but he possessed a head of thick black hair. Andrea tucked a strand of hair behind her ear, she made brief eye contact with me. She smiled, her eyes flicked between Luca and I briefly. Noting the tension.

Andrea tilted her head slightly, signaling for me to join her.

I downed the last of my champagne, placing the empty glass onto the tray of a passing server.

I felt a hand wrap around my arm.

Luca pulled me in. His chin brushed the top of my head. He whispered into my ear, darkly.

"Where are you going?"

"Relax" I said, placing a hand on his chest. "I'm just going to talk to Andrea"

Luca nodded, I could feel his chin brushing the top of my head as he did.

"Don't stray too far from either of us" Luca said

He placed a kiss on my forehead, causing me to blush. There were so many people around, I didn't want to cause a stir. Then again, I figured that no one would care.

Luca turned around, he shot me one last look before walking off. A look that said:

I mean what I said.

Essentially I was on a leash, which didn't sound so fun in this context.

I hobbled over to Andrea, she raised a hand to pause the conversation.
