The Map, Return to the Overworld, and a Trap Triggered

Chapter 11
Jolene's P.O.V.

"Woo! Now let's go find that map!" I yelled as I started to run down the hallway. I heard the others following me, and the confused murmurs of Flame and Brave. I smiled, but it was quickly replaced with concentration as I focused on remembering how to get to the map room.

~~--TIME SKIP!~~--

"One last left." I murmured. "And here we are!" I waltzed into the room. Yes, I waltzed into the room. Is there something wrong with that?

The others walked through the door as I was running around trying to remember exactly where I had hid the map. "What is she doing?" Flame asked.

"Do you know where the map is? I left it in here!" I said. I was given confused looks by both Brave and Flame. Sky and Olivia started walking around also looking for it. Out of the corner of my eye I saw Flame whisper something to Brave, then both of them walk out of the room.

When they came back flame had something in her hand. "Is this what your looking for?" She asked.

I walked over to her and she gave me the item. It was a rolled up piece of paper. Everybody circled around me, so I opened it. The paper was dried out quiet a bit, so I had to be careful.

When it was open, a huge smile spread across my face. "Ya!" I yelled making everyone jump at the sudden noise. This was it. This was the map.

"This is just a bunch of squiggles and pictures. How are you able to read that?" Sky asked.

"That's squid writing, and those 'pictures' are a part of the map." Olivia said lightly hitting Sky. "All I want to to know us how you can read them." Olivia turned to me.

I scratched the back of my head. "Long story." I replied. Neither Sky nor Olivia seemed satisfied with that answer, but they didn't press any further. "So we've got what we've come for. Shall we go?" I asked.

"Sure!" Sky and Olivia replied. I rolled the map back up and headed towards the door.

"Wait!" Brave yelled.

"Can we come?" Flame asked. I looked at Sky and Olivia. They had smiles on their faces. I'm just gonna take that as a yes.

"Alright then! Let's go!" I declared marching out of the room.

~~--TIME SKIP BACK TO THE PORTAL THEY CAME FROM CAUSE I FEEL LIKE IT!~~--

"I'll go first!" I yelled running through.

Before the purple swirls plunged me into darkness I heard Sky sarcastically say, "Sure. Last one in here, first one out." I smiled.

When I got to the other side I quickly went to work making the stones disappear before the others made it through. "Come on!" I mumbled as the last few stones disappeared from the tunnel, and not a second to late. Olivia appeared with Sky following not to far behind.

I walked over to the edge of the tunnel as Flame and Brave came through. They had no idea about the traps so the rest of us would have to help them through. Onwards I guess then.

"Look out!" I yelled as Brave tripped. Flame quickly reached out and grabbed him before he hit the ground. We had told them about the traps and they were kind of on edge.

I sighed as Brave dusted himself off safe from whatever trap was hidden there. Flame moved beside him, and I yelled at her to move, but she she didn't move fast enough.

The ground fell from beneath her. I ran over to the edge of the pit quickly. I peered over the edge to see her falling towards a pit of lava. I couldn't help my self, I dove in after her. As I fell my wings and tail appeared, as well as my armour changed colour to red. I pressed my wings tightly to me, and used my tail to control the direction I was going.

She hit the lava, and I winced. I couldn't stop tho, I didn't want to stop. I was about to plunge into the lava myself when a figure surfaced beneath me. I spread my wings to avoid hitting them.

"Come on in the lava's fine!" Flame grinned. I flew a little to her left and made my wings and tail disappear. I landed in the lava right next to her.

"You're right!" I replied smiling. "It is nice in here!" Flame gave me a look like I was crazy and I returned it. "How are you okay?" I asked her while swimming in circles around her.

"I'm a blaze hybrid. I don't take damage from lava or fire." She replied as if it was obvious.

"Do you want a lift out of the hole?" I asked.

"Sure!" She replied joyfully. I let my wings and tail appear, and then I grabbed her.

"UP, UP, AND AWAY!" I yelled flapping my wings. I started to fly out of the hole. It felt weird to be carrying someone rather then something, but whatever.

We landed back at the top of the pit and started walking away like nothing happened. The others stared after us before running down the tunnel carefully to catch up.
