Chapter 25
Seto's P.O.V. (Bet ya didn't see that one coming.)
I opened my eyes. Ugh. I wish I could teleport us all out of this prison, but somehow the squids have made it so magic cannot enter or leave this room. That's why when I first saw Jolene, I thought that she was a spirit since they can go anywhere no matter how many magical or scientific barriers you put up.
Now I know differently. Jolene is here, but she looks different, and she acts different. Something isn't right. She seemed confused when we called after her. Then a thought came up. That voice I heard one night. It kind of sounded like Jolene, plus it would make sense.
Jolene lost her memory and became a squid hybrid. I'm guessing by the fact that she can still talk draconic means that she's still part dragon. Maybe there's hope for her. I'm worried about the whole squid part though. If she's a squid hybrid, does that mean she's loyal to only the squids now? I shuddered at the thought.
"Seto?" I jumped when I heard Jolene's voice. I looked up to see the spirit version of her I was getting used to seeing.
"Yeah?" I reply. Instantly the guys all turn to look in my direction. Out of the corners of my eyes I could see them smiling.
"Jolene!" Ty cried out happily. Then his face twisted into a frown. "What was with you earlier?"
"What do you mean?" Jolene asked a confused look on her face, making me sure that that voice was her's.
"You looked differently and you were acting weirdly." Jason suplied.
"That wasn't me. Well... It was, but it wasn't." Jolene sighed. "Didn't you hear me yell out to all of you telepathically."
"I KNEW IT!" I declared. Jolene laughed at my sudden outburst while the guys just stared at me. "Well I figured it out just before Jolene just arrived here, but I figured out nonetheless."
"Glad you at least got it. Come on you guys! Don't you listen to the wind?" Jolene half laughed, half pleaded. We all burst out laughing at her attitude as she started to spin in circles chanting, 'you can't spin like me' over and over again, and then she started to skip around the room saying nonsense things.
Suddenly Jolene froze beside my cage, her head pointed in the direction of the door. We all stopped laughing and stared at the door as well, curious as to what stopped her. The door slowly creaked open and Jolene faded slightly from view, what I'm guessing is the closest she could accomplish to paling. A squid came through the door and roughly shouted at us to be quiet before turning off the lights and leaving.
We all thought it was over, so we started talking again, but Jolene just stayed still. She was slowly fading away while looking straight at the door. I touched her arm, making her jump and go back to being quite opaque. "Jolene. What's wrong?" I asked. She just looked at me and then looked back towards the door.
Suddenly the door opened slowly with a creak. With all the light flooding in from the hallway, all I could see was the shadow of a person. Must be one of the hybrids, but what are they doing here? The hybrid quickly closed the door and turned on the lights. At first I had to squint because my eyes had adjusted to the dark, but when I was able to open them I gasped. It was the squid version of Jolene. She ignored us and just walked straight over to the golden plated cage that was supposed to have Sky in it.
She stood there for a long time just staring at the cage. "Budder." She suddenly muttered before reaching out and tounching one of the bars. The second her skin made even the slightest contact however it seemed to hurt her. I say that because she jumped back as well as pulled her arm tight to herself as she hissed like a cat.
