Chapter 21

I walked to the stone fountain. It looked beautiful with all it's golden accents. I sometimes wonder about Sky's obsession with gold, but I usually give up and think that I'll probably never understand. Just like I'll never completely understand this whole squid thing either.

I sat down on the side of the fountain and played with the water using my right hand. I wished so badly that I could become a water dragon and sit under one of the spouts of water and not have to worry about holding my breath. I couldn't do it though. If I did somebody might notice the change in colour of my armour or the fact I wasn't moving out from under a spout of water, or maybe even, if I got carried away, my tail and wings. Then questions would be asked, the squids would defiantly take notice of a dragon hybrid in town.

"What are you doing here?" I heard somebody or would I say something say from behind me with every word dripping with hate. I jumped in surprise and then turned around as a low growl rumbled in my throat. It was the squid who had lead the charge against the town, and the little boy, when team crafted was visiting. "You know, you look different. No tail, no wings, different colour armour."

"Leave." I growled menacingly.

"Or what?" The squid said cockily. "Cause I'm sooo terrified." He said sarcastically. I growled and went to lunge at him, but somebody grabbed my arm.

I turned to see who had grabbed me to be greeted by a squid hybrid, but not only that, the hybrid held a needle. Before I could react they plunged it into my arm carelessly. I screeched and they pulled it out slowly. I was terrified of needles.

When they finally pulled the needle completely out of my arm, I fell to the ground weakly. Whatever was in that stuff acted fast. I shuddered on the ground. I had only gotten a glance of the liquid, but I felt that it wasn't something I wanted in me. The liquid had been a squid blue. I put pressure on my tongue as the urge to scream in pain came.

The hybrid dragged me up and onto my feet, holding me there. The squid came up to me and I could see something dark in its eyes, something evil. I shuddered again. "You'll be a hybrid yourself soon." He said smugly. "You won't be able to do anything against us. Your whole body will belong to us and you will obey every order and basically be a squid yourself. You'll also forget everything from before you first wake up as a squid, so that's why I'm not afraid to rub this all up in your face, you won't ever be upset at me after you wake up." He smiled and I knew there was only one thing I could do before anything else happened.

'Help! Squids! I'm going to be hybrid. Won't remember. Sorry in advance... slipping...' I screamed mentally becoming more of a weak struggle to call to everyone I knew telepathically.

My vision started to blur a bit and my head burst with a blooming pain. I bit my tongue to stop myself from crying out. My head hung downwards, so I watched in horror as my armour became a squid blue, and my hair did the same. I focused on my mask, the squids would never see my face. As I focused I made it so only I could remove my mask, of coarse the squid me won't be able to, just incase.

Soon all I could see was a big blur. My head was throbbing with pain, and my whole body was numb. All I could do was hang from the hybrids arms helplessly as dark spots invaded my vision as everything seemed to be receding down a tunnel. This was it. Since this liquid would take away my identity, it was technically killing me. Sure my body would be alive, but this current me that existed would disappear to be replaced with the squid hybrid girl.

Before I would go, I would let the world know of my short existence. I screamed, ear burstingly loud. I watched through the tunnel as the squid flinched and I fell to the ground. I smirked one last smirk, before reflecting on my life, and finally letting the darkness take me. At least I would be safe from the squids in this darkness. I would be free of the horror of watching my friends suffer, though I wish I could help them. The darkness was safety, after all, nobody could ever spot me hiding in the shadows back in town, the darkness had often saved me from many horrible things, so I let it take me to a new safe place.

AN
Shorter than I thought it would be, also different. I had it roughly planed out so that Jolene would get injected and then she would hear the voice of the squid who had given her the map. Then they would let Jolene keep control while still appearing to be a squid so she could fight back. This is what happens when I'm bored and things like that. Nothing ever goes according to plan. Anyways, PEACE OUT!✌ BAI!
