Chapter 27
Squid Jolene's P.O.V.

"You have quite the strong spirit if you are doing this after what happened." The squid king growled. I struggled as I hung from one of his tentacle.

"What are you talking about?" I asked through pants as I stopped struggling and hung limp in his grasp.

He gave me a confused look as he looked at my genuine confusion. "You really don't know?"

"Nope." I replied.

"Then why are you in here?" He questioned.

I had to come up with a lie quickly. I couldn't tell him that I had a strange draw to the place. "I came to check up on my group's member of team crafted." I told him, the lie rolling off my tongue like second nature. I turned to look at Seto's cage. "Where is he? He was here just a moment ago."

"What?!" The king turned to look where my gaze was resting.

Everyone else in the room also looked over at Seto's cage. "What did you do to Seto!" The man with the black and green headset yelled suddenly. The squid king laughed as he headed over to the cage. How was Seto gone? It shouldn't be possible. There wasn't a mark on the cage and his magic was being stopped by something some scientist of ours had found.

A pain erupted in my head and I sunk down onto my knees. I bent over, putting one hand on my hand, and one on the ground to stabilize myself. I heard people trying to get my attention, but it was faint. I didn't understand, why was I in pain.

"Sorry." A voice cut through my mind. "I need to take control for a moment. You're kind of putting up a fight and that's why you're feeling this pain. Just relax and I'll be out of here in no time." I gave a small nod and relaxed.

Jolene's P.O.V.

I took control of my body out of the hand of the squid hybrid that was inhabiting it. "Hey numbskulls." I said through gritted teeth. Everyone's heads turned to look at me and I grinned at the shock on their faces.

"What?!" The squid king shouted. "How did you?!" I laughed as everyone stared at me.

"Decided to send a message to you all. I will come back. Not now, my strength is now strong enough now, but I will reclaim my body. When I do this slimy idiot in front of me will die." I laughed.

"Hey!" Jerome called out suddenly. I rolled my eyes.

"Not you! You're fluffy!" I explained. "I was talking about the squid king!"

"Oh." Jerome murmured as the squid king let out a roar. The blue creature lunged at me, but I just saluted.

"Until next time!" I yelled before letting go of the control I had. I'd get my body back. That was a fact. How long I had to wait was unknown however. I could wait. I was used to waiting. Outcasts didn't expect things the moment they wanted them, they had to work and wait to obtain even their basic necessities sometimes.

Seto's P.O.V. (You're welcome)

I woke up with something cool on my forehead. My hand slowly worked it's way up to find a wet clothe. How did that get there? I began to reach my hand to the back of my head as I felt a dull throb begin to come from a spot back there. I froze as I felt a small divot in my head. What happened to me?!

A door opened and light flooded into the room from outside the door, where ever it lead to. Footsteps came over to me, and a girl appeared in my view. She placed something down on a table that was next to the bed I was in. I heard the dripping of water and watched as her hand reached towards my face. On instinct my arm flew up and I gabbed her wrist.

"Seto!" The girl exclaimed. "You're awake!" She seemed awfully happy despite the fact I had an iron grip on her wrist. "You've been out for a while. I was worried about you because there was a small rock where your head ended up hitting the ground." Then she murmured something that sounded like 'stupid author', but I'm probably just hearing things.

"Who are you?" I asked. She seemed familiar, but I couldn't quite place it.

"Seriously Author?!" The girl exclaimed.

This is what happens when people call me stupid! At least Seto got to stay out of his cage... Which reminds me, the others that are over there are freaking out.

I let go of the girl's hand as a voice that echoed through the room scared me. "W-what is that?!" I fumbled for words. The girl and the voice just seemed to ignore me.

"Really?! Just because I called you stupid, Seto doesn't remember me?!" The girl seemed frustrated.

Nah. I'm pulling your leg because I don't like being called stupid. Seto didn't loose his memory because of the rock that hit his head, that's just something I made to cover up what really happened.

"Which is?" The girl prodded for an answer.

When the story restarted itself, Seto was supposed to return to the cell without any memories of that side adventure. I managed to pull a few strings when it happened so that Seto could stay. I honestly feel like someone needed to escape for something interesting to happen over there.

"So the natural properties of the story called for the story to continue as if nothing happened, but you tampered with that?" The girl questioned. "I've got that right, right?"

Yep! Oh, and by the way, Seto has been listening in on this whole conversation. He seems confused so you might want to fill him in. I'll be quiet now.

I looked at the girl in confusion as she spun around. "You heard both sides... right?" She asked. I nodded, but my hand flew up to the dent in my head. It did not feel good. Was it really just to hide something else that had happened?

"Well that's what the author said. She's got a reason for everything, and really I can't control much compared to her." The girl said as if she could read my mind. The girl laughed. "That's because I can. It's a perk to being who I am. Now I should probably start explaining what happened... or I could just try to wrestle your memories back from the story control. Because the story was from your point of view through that whole adventure, it shouldn't be much of a problem." I looked at the girl like she was crazy as she closed her eyes.
