Chapter 20

It was the evening when I opened the envelope nervously. I wonder why the little girl said what she did when she gave me it. I was dieing to know what was inside, yet at the same time I was reluctant. Have you ever had that before? If you haven't, let me just say it is really weird.

I finally ripped it open. Inside I found a nicely folded piece of paper. Unfolding it I was still wondering why the girl had given it to me and not told me to take it to Sky or Olivia. I looked at the letter and it read;

Dear reader,
We are trusting you with this information that you may help us. If they found out we were telling somebody from outside of the town. This town is on the outskirts of the Budder Kingdom so we don't have as much protection as some of the cities and towns closer to the centre of the kingdom. As a result we have been invaded by squids. We couldn't hold them off and we wish to ask for your assistance. If you wish to help us there is a shop that is on the opposite side of the town square as the town hall, you will be able to identify it by a green light in the window. If you are traveling with others who might also be able to help us then you can bring them as well.

Now I know why they didn't give it to Sky or Olivia. Sky, well, if you want a major secret kept, its best not to tell him, and he found out about this he might panic and blow these people's cover. Olivia would want to tell Sky, and I already told you why it would be bad to tell him.

I decided I would leave this with Flame, Brave, and Cake. They would probably know how to handle this the best. Plus if this was a trap, then they would be able to know where I was.

I made sure that I had my weapons before I left. Better safe than sorry after all. Even so, if worse came to worse, I could always use my abilities. I slipped outside without anyone noticing. I would have to find where they were staying, but it shouldn't take me long.

I walked through practically all the streets with ease. I made my way through the city until I heard a familiar voice say, "I'm bored." It was Star. She never was one for sitting around.

"Star!" I whisper yelled at her. I heard movement, and within seconds she came into view. "Hey, I need to know what room Flame, Brave and Cake are staying in."

"Brave is staying in the room just above the stables, and the girls are in the room to the right." Star answered simply.

"Thanks!" I smiled. Then I went down the nearby alley and climbed up the stable wall. I'll leave the not with the girls. Hopefully they'll come to the same conclusion I did. So, from the roof of the stables I climbed up to the window Star said the girls were staying in and slide the note under the windowsill. Hopefully they'll find it there.

I quickly made my way back to the town square and began to look for the green light. I spotted it easily as it was the only green light, so I quickly glanced down at my armour. Still golden. Good. I took a deep breath and walked into the building.

I was greeted by the happy face of the kids who handed me the mail earlier. "You came!" The girl said happily, only to be quickly shushed by a group of adults that were nearby. I rolled my eyes, not like anyone could see.

"Adults can be annoying sometimes huh?" I quietly asked the girl. She nodded with a big grin on her face. "Now. Let's go listen in to this meeting." I grabbed the girl's hand and looked around for the boy, only to see him already standing over with the others. I smiled and walked with the girl over to the group.

It was mostly a boring meeting with not much more than, 'What can we do?' basically being asked over and over again in different ways. I never knew how many way you could ask that question, but then again, I was never one for sitting around, especially in dim light, unless of coarse I was sitting up while sleeping, but that's a different matter.

I was glad when the meeting was over. I stood up and stretched. Absolutely no progress was made and I was kind of upset they wasted my time to sleep, not like I was probably going to be able to until around midnight, but a girl can daydream. "I'll be going." I said.

"We're going to stay here just a while longer." One of the adults said. I patted the girl's head and she looked up at me frustratedly.

"I'm not a dog!" She protested.

"No, no you're not." I smiled. Then I turned and walked out the door.

I sometimes wonder how events so peaceful and boring like these can lead up to what happened next.
